Oscar Nominations

I loved Django, but yea, weak overall year.

I liked Django too. Tarantino really has done himself a disservice by making some legendary films before that, which almost makes it seem that giving one to Django (albeit a good film, but not near his best) would be meh. Pretty crazy.

Yeah but the point is most people watching the show wouldn't know that. They'll only see that, not go read the back story, and take it at face value.

The issue is a sore point for minorities in this country and we don't need another wedge dividing us, we need people who can unite us. All the work other presenters/speakers (i.e., John Legend, Common) did during the night to spread the message of togetherness, etc, was undone by that last comment.

You're not a minority in this country...

I know they worked together on 21 Grams, but most people watching the Oscars probably wouldn't. Obviously I'm not alone in my view this is an excerpt from the CNN article:

Woah, someone else feels the same as you. Welcome to the Internet, where we can find the like-minded and thus convince ourselves that we, in our narrow-minded thinking, are correct. Our views of the world are spot on. And only ours.

Go join ISIS, bro.

Go ask a minority how they feel about this, I don't think you're in any position to comment on it on their behalf.

That's the thing. I don't care how they feel because see, it was a joke, between two friends.

Take a step back from your delicate sensibilities for a second and you'd see that, get a grip on reality, and then maybe, just maybe you and everyone else can move toward progress and past our politically correct joke of a world in which everyone needs their little voices heard, fists tightly clenched.

The definition of the word joke is the same to my cheesburger-eating *** as it is to my taco-eating neighbor.

Except it was made in public, making it a public thing.

Otherwise swearing on Jazzfanz would also be allowed "between two friends", except it would be offensive when other people sees it.

Yeah, that's the right analogy.

I'll just stop there because I'm gonna say things that are mean and God knows you'll curl up into a fetal position if I do, crying and wondering how the world can be so cruel.

Inglorious ******** FTW.

Tarentino FTW.

By the way, I think you can tell a lot about a potential actor in how they conduct themselves speaking. Miles Teller, on stage last night with maybe the hottest young actress working (as in looks, not talent) had a highly attractive (I'm a confident male and can say this) confidence about him that quietly radiated. He stood there like a man, reading his lines, very confident like a man, not showy, not corny, not nervous, not trying to be cool because he was next to the hot girl, not trying to impress her. He stood there reading his lines, looking at the camera, almost as if she wasn't there, not in some rude way either. Almost like he knew he's hot **** and wasn't impressed by her simply because she's hot. Not sure my point is coming across right but in short, I was really, really impressed by his stage presence. Dude is ****ing legit and I can't wait to see Whiplash.
Who is miles teller and who was the hot actress?

I don't watch awards shows because no one can take jokes. I want to see professional comedians busting some balls. Not Neil Patrick Harris reciting jokes from the Mormon joke book.
Justin beiber roast on comedy central coming up soon

The kid from Whiplash. I posted a pic of him and his hot girlfriend. The girl he was on stage with was the blond from The Wolf of Wall Street and in the new movie Focus.
Thanks
I saw that pic of him. He looks like he is 15...... or it just seems that way because he did those kids movies

I understand where he's coming from but this seems a bit myopic. 12 Years a Slave won last year and big portions of the cast won and/or were nominated.

I'm more concerned with the continued lack of female directors. Of course if they had nominated the director of Selma they would have gotten a two-fer on that one.

You think Hollywood is bad you should read into BBC national hegemony and trying to capture there version of Britishness. Not only is it hideously white as it's been called but it even goes on to exclude non-Londoners of all shades. It has as much particularism as any programming. I'm personally loving the lamenting from national writers like David Aaronovich lamenting the death of their nostalgic three channel system that by design constructed programmes to create a deep sense of national consciousness and consensus. Or in other words Brittishness. Highly exclusive.
