Can we talk about Favors' Corner Three?

This was the first play of the Warriors Game.

Other teams should be looking at that and thinking it's potentially terrifying going forward. All the play action appears designed to create that space for Derrick on the corner.

Yeah, stretch fours are so scarce in the league that teams already biting their nails in horror, not knowing what to do.

Ya other teams should be terrified because Favors shot a 3 and made it. Reminds me of men who fall in love with a girl just because they received 1 smile from them one time in a blue moon. I would love Favors to become the next Ibaka but gonna need more than 1 three to get too excited.

Almost none of them also:
-Protect the rim
-Guard the post
-Competently score inside

So yeah, it would be a huge, huge deal if this was a thing Favors adds to his game. Especially considering the spacing issues with him and Gobert on the floor at the same time.

What Favors does in defense is irrelevant to him having 3pt shot or not. Teams will defend him the same way as no-D stretch fours. With no-offense Gobert on the floor spacing will be an issue with or without Favors shooting threes. If Favors had a drive game from 3Pt line in addition to reliable 3pt shot then we are talking.

Seriously? It changes everything about lineup balance. You're telling me that Steve Novak being able to hit 3's and not be able to do anything else has nothing to do with his viability in a lineup?

Additionally, if his shot has to be guarded, it dramatically alters the actions the team can run, particularly with how the team plays with both he and Gobert on the floor at the same time.

You don't see how Favors having a reliable 3pt shot would open up the floor? It gives everyone more room. Whether he can drive it or not, it still creates more space.

No, because competent teams have no problems both pack the paint and challenge 3pt shots at the same time. It's not 90-00's any longer. You need to be able to be drive hard when 3pt shot is challenged.

Favors with a reliable 3-point shot > Anything Kanter could become in even a fringe reality
