also forgot to mention my mom making hallvë for "Bajram" (our word for Eid) is the ultimate tradition, more so than baklava. I think that's Turkish too.
Ahahaha this is awesome man. Every word is the same. Bayram, helva, baklava, börek, kaymak, kadayıf, lokum... Turkish is a phonetic language hence the letter difference. Pronunciation must be pretty similar.also forgot to mention my mom making hallvë for "Bajram" (our word for Eid) is the ultimate tradition, more so than baklava. I think that's Turkish too.
Of course it fits great! Slides through your throat like a piece of butter on a hot plate. Are you in Istanbul? Try Haci Bekir's kaymakli lokum.
I post therefore I am...
we have Albanian family friends who make kadaif (I love this man, hahahaha, we've all had the SAME foods!!! This is nuts) but I've never really liked theirs! My mom doesn't make it, and I've never had it in Europe. I'll make sure to try some legit kadaif soon![]()
Künefe!Ever had the Levant version? It's called knafah, and it's one of the best things ever.
Pecans in baklava? Are you sure it's not walnuts? I love making baklava, and I might try it with pecans to see what it's like. I've made it with pistachios, walnuts, pine nuts, sweet cheese, and chocolate. But never pecans.
Is that really what's it's called? Sweet cheese?
