The Walking Dead

Lets say average man would need 2000 calories per day...

To simply survive?
You don't need nearly that much.

Obviously if you do it for few weeks it is not a big deal to survive on 1000 calories or less. But we talking months or seasons here. Big size dude like Eastman after few month of tomatoes and cucumbers would be skinny as stick as he would inevitably lose weight. In the movie however he is having a little gut though.

I see, so forests and regular cabins in Georgia are stocked with canned veggies.
Lets do some math, how many tomatoes and cucumbers you would need to eat for survival? Lets say average man would need 2000 calories per day... one tomato is 22 calories and one cucumber about 15 calories would provide about 2% of that requirement. So you need about 45 medium tomatoes and 66 cucumbers just to get 2000 calories. Good luck growing all of that and surviving on that.
ok

your right your an expert in survival and farming.

forget the fact that dude was prepared to spend 72 days in the cabin starving a man to death. so what did he do those 72(or was it 74 days). maybe he was a prepper a prepper has enough foods. he didn't even know zombie apocalypse started. get into town fill up on FOOD, go back to cabin and start planting ****.

He also isn't a vegan, he is using his goat's milk to make food.

Plus, if you were able to find a farm and fortify it, you could easily grow beans for protein. You could can your own food. You could forage for mushrooms/berries in the forest. You could have chickens and eat eat eggs.

Also, pretty sure any vegan/vegetarian would eat meat if it really got that bad. Vegans/Vegetarians are that because they have that choice. If faced with live or death, and only meat available, most would eat meat if they had to.

Agree on that for sure. When death is staring into your eyes you would eat anything. As proven by Alive story you would eat flesh of dead people despite moral and religious conflict. Survival instinct is damn strong...
