He got Hillary Care passed and fixed the investment tax issue. I don't see a whole lot after his two years.
There's a lot of other stuff that's easy to forget. We had a lot of civil rights changeover in the last few years. We overturned Don't Ask Don't Tell, had a cultural shift on DOMA, really changed some sentencing policies and had a lot of "soft-power" victories in foreign affairs that don't involve invading countries so they don't count or something.
The positive effects of the Obama administration both for the Country and for what it means to be American are going to be felt for decades. That's the reason you see such a strong reaction to him from the right side of the aisle. They feel the encroaching social and demographic shifts and he is the literal face of it in their minds.
That's exactly why I'm in her camp. Why would you give in to the Fox News crowd's hounding of her for two decades? They painted a bulls eye on her back, and, by your stance, they've won.
Yes. They did win. It even kind of works on me. And I'm liberal.
This is where the Hillary and the Bernie people miss each other: they both have legitimate claims to the "let's be reasonable adults and talk about what actually is" argument. Hillary has legitimate points that what Bernie wants to do was outside the realm of civil conversation in 1963, still outside the thinkable in 1996, and exists outside of the realm of achievable events, but we all know he's right, in 2016. Those are the facts. Bernie was born outside of his time and won't live to see the slightly more perfect world he envisions.
But the Hillary people, for all their talk about pragmatism, really like to pretend that Hillary has no electability issues of her own in the general election. We all know that's ******** too. Kerry got destroyed for flip-flopping a decade ago and the dirt on Hillary is a thousand times as bad. It's already started. I believe Bernie can win a campaign against a word. I don't believe Hillary can win a campaign against herself.
I also don't recall you not castigating Obama for taking the same dirty money that Hillary has. He gift wrapped the health industry their biggest favor in years. He's also tainted with bankster money (not that I care about that either...).
So we are left with Bernie vs. Trump? I don't want to see the worst sides of our country square off in an ideological battle of scatter brained nonsense.
Let's just say I found myself aligned with candidate Obama on the healthcare issue more than president Obama. And that this may have been a deciding factor in how I voted in the primaries in 2008.
