Hayward finger injury

Tweets say Hayward's out 6-8 weeks. Goodbye 4th seed. I'm fed up with this "fighting for 8th spot" **** and most probably it will strike back.
Just when you're pumped more than ever... this happens...

Fractured ring finger usually is about 6 weeks. It is better now then during playoffs folks. There is always blessing in disguise... young kids will get more playing time and confidence.

Neither were $150 million contracts.

Adjusting for inflation, Malone's 1997 salary was $437 million. Did you know that before you posted, or are you just playing games with us, broh?

At first I was bummed about this, but now I think it could be a blessing in disguise. Put Hood in a situation where he has to be the man for a while, and this could fast forward his breakout this year. Also gives JJ a chance to fit in faster. We got lucky with the timing as well. Much better than having it happen a month from now.

I kinda like the story of Rodney Hood getting to start next to his childhood idol.

End of the summer: kkk still wants bigs with limited defensive versatility to defend wings

Also if he indeed misses games, Burks, Exum and Neto will be the ones profiting the most, as they'll most likely make their backcourt a little smaller and let Gobert clean up size disadvantages

Anyone else here think Lyles can play some 3?

I do.

No.

Edit: Offensively, yes he could. Defensively, he'll have trouble with a lot of matchups, but after consideration, I think it's possible IF he's playing next to Favors and Gobert. He'll get blown by, but if Rudy and Faves are protecting the rim the way we all know they can, I don't think it's out of the question that Lyles could play some 3.

Anyway, my first instinct is to dismiss such an idea, but if Favors and Rudy get back to owning the paint like they should, it might actually work.

Hayward is the type of player that is never in a million years going to turn down a 5 year max.

Basically the list of guys you can get in free agency if their team wants to keep them is a handful. Almost no one is turning down a 5 year max and no agent is ever going to advise it.

Ever hear of a guy named Kevin Durant?!
Team can give GH a contract with an opt out. He then re-signs with that team for max. Not saying he does. My original post was tongue-in-cheek. But the financial advantage of remaining in Utah is pretty low.

In fact, I'd be surprised if he doesn't want an opt out after year 3. He'd be eligible for another big jump as a 10 year vet.

Am I the only one who is wondering why he's going to miss any regular season time with a non-shooting hand finger injury? I get that its a fracture but the timeline seems very excessive to me considering the injury and location.

Durant is a special kind of vajayjay tho. Absolutely gutless, and willing to sell his soul for a chance to have somebody else earn a ring for him.

Gordo could very possibly leave for another team if Utah can't prove to be competitive, but he ain't no Durant.

Because missing a handful of games to ensure it heals properly is less of a gamble than risking it becoming an issue for months, or even the entire season.

Having said that, every injury is different, and he could be back sooner than the 6-8 weeks. You just don't know at this point, so there has to be a guesstimate.

Didn't he sign a no-trade clause with the franchise in CHARLOTTE? What kind of competitor does that? Or was he just 100% certain the jazz would match?

Bummer city. Thankfully it happened now and not in the middle or end of the season. I am not worried.

Trade kicker. He signed a clause that would pay him more money if he got traded.

Based on schedule I think we are could easily go 5-8 or 4-9 but that isn't a killer tbh. If he can't hit his stride and we don't do well the next 10-15 games then we will be in trouble.

Joe Johnson can go back to starting which he likely is better at... hill and hood will need to create much more though. I think we can weather the storm just sucks to start this way after what we've been through.

Yeah, I was thinking 5-8 looks plausible. I'd be pretty damn happy with 6-7 I think.

I really want to see Favors/Gobert beasting it while he's out. 32/22/4 a game.
