Gobert is amazing and he singlehandedly makes you a top 5 defense in the league. He cannot cover for lapses, missed rotations, blown coverages every second possession. Gobert is best when he's paired with at least competent defenders. Sure he can cover for you, but you better be getting something out of that(for example, if you gamble a bit more on the perimeter and this results in more steals and fast break points, Gobert covering for you might have good additional benefit, when you close out hard and chase players off the 3p line and Gobert covers for you, this gives auxiliary benefit to your defense, but if you are getting exposed by your guy without giving anything to the defense, no matter how good Gobert is, at the end the negatives pile up.

After last year over half the board was ready to trade Favors and start Lyles.
I know a few have questioned Mitchell's defensive talents. From reading articles his nickname is "Spider" due to his wingspan and defensive capabilities. Here are a few pieces concerning his defense:

You'd need to check the twitter timelines, but it was one of the Jazz beat reporters or Locke that mentioned it.
Maybe for a month or two. When Lyles was drafted he was one of the most hated picks I can remember. And all of last year that half the board got off board with him, because, well, who didn't. He royally sucked last year.
The biggest thing for Mitchell is PG skills and learning how to draw contact.

in addition Lyles got off on such a bad foot with the fans. He held out on his rookie contract for some dumb reason, and missed part of the summer league. There was already skepticism surrounding him because Booker and others were still on the board. Holding out solidified the skeptics negative opinions and turned many of the fence sitters against him. Lyles put himself in a bad spot before he even put on the Jazz Uniform.
Mitchell has more offensive potential than he gets credit for. He's going to look good in NBA spacing. He has a pretty good handle and uses his length and explosiveness to sidestep defenders. His cross-over covers the full 7 feet of his wingspan. He can get defenders on their heels and get to the rim in a flash. He's crafty and shifty like CJ McCollum (though he doesn't have that elite shooting touch). He has much better offensive instincts than Marcus Smart, is a much better and more willing passer than Oladipo, and is more explosive than Avery Bradley. He's a very valuable player. He just needs to keep refining his shot and work on finishing in different ways at the rim.
For those of you who liked Patrick Beverly, Mitchell is a big upgrade from that. Shelvin Mack is a rec player compared to Mitchell.
