Jazz taking Jimmer #6 "most logical pick in NBA Draft History"

What. Surely you can't be serious. Pretty sure I'm aware what I've been arguing this whole time, which is that Jimmer won't be top 12 in his draft class. I am now officially considering you as "stupid".

You're an idiot. Are you trolling me?

No, but your name callings were a little harsh, don't you think? Seriously though, you took it one step further. Feelings hurt. :D

Like who at 12?

It's hard to say who might fall to #12. Of all the sites out there, I think draft express is as reputable as they come. They have Jimmer ranked 17th. Here's the list of players they have ranked ahead of him. Of course, that doesn't mean that the Jazz couldn't have Jimmer ranked in their top 12, but I don't think it's a stretch to assume that someone might be available at 12 that they prefer over Jimmer.

1 Kyrie Irving PG
2 Derrick Williams PF
3 Jonas Valanciunas C
4 Kemba Walker PG
5 Brandon Knight PG/SG
6 Bismack Biyombo PF/C
7 Enes Kanter PF/C
8 Jan Vesely SF/PF
9 Donatas Motiejunas PF/C
10 Alec Burks SG
11 Terrence Jones SF/PF
12 Kawhi Leonard SF
13 Marcus Morris PF
14 Markieff Morris PF
15 Tristan Thompson PF
16 Jordan Hamilton SF

Serious question for everyone, not even trying to be a smartass or anything. What separates Stephen Curry from Jimmer? Both where great shooters/scorers playing in smaller conferences for smaller schools. Curry has been pretty good thus far into his career, so what will prevent Jimmer from having a similar career? Again, this is a legitimate question, I never watched Curry that much in college so I cant really make any conclusions.

Skin color, although, Curry's skin is white. lol

If yor selecting bench players with lottery picks you are staying in lottery for a long time folks

Here's a list of NBA players who were the National Player of the Year in College. Let's see if they turned out to be starters or bench players.

1995 - Joe Smith - Both
1996 - Marcus Camby - Starter, All Star
1997 - Tim Duncan - Starter HOF player
1998 - Antawn Jamison - Starter, All Star
1999 - Elton Brand - Starter, All Star
2000 - Kenyon Martin - Starter, who knows how could he would have been without his lingering knee injuries.
2001 - Shane Battier - Starter - Very solid player
2002 - Jason Williams - Sadly ????? We will never know.
2003 - T.J. Ford - Starter
2004 - Jameer Nelson - Starter, All star
2005 - Andrew Bogut - Starter, All star, lead the NBA in blocks
2006 - J.J. Reddick - over 25 minutes a game guy, likely a starter now
2007 - Kevin Durant - Starter, All star, Future HOF
2008 - Tyler Hansbrough - Starter, is improving every year.
2009 - Blake Griffin - Starter, All Star, probably a HOF type player (injuries might hold him from that)
2010 - Evan Turner - Role guy and starter (started 14 games this year - I'm pretty sure he'll become a starter and stay a starter throughout his career.)
2011 - Jimmer Fredette???

If we go by history, we should be thinking at very least, Jimmer will be a starter. I would like to hear a good argument against this.

Good stuff Archie. Maybe Jimmer will be a starting point guard for someone. If he ends up being a starter and all-star, there will be a lot of eating crow by a lot of posters.

I won't argue he could be starter material, but note any star level player who won this was only a freshmen or sophomore at the time. It's safe to say the recent seniors that won it, JJ and Tyler, are not starter quality on a championship caliber team. The devil is in the details, have to be careful.

Impressive list, but how many of these guys walked in and dominated college basketball from day one, and how many of them took three or four years to figure it out. There's a big difference between the two. Count me among those who don't believe Jimmer will be the best at 12, but I will be satisfied with/resigned to the pick because of the marketing impact and because he fits so well culturally and on one end of the court (assuming he can become a better distributor, which I think he can). I have zero expectations for his defense so I'm hoping Bismak is standing behind him making life miserable for those who walk by..

To anyone's knowledge, the guy hasn't ever played defense and will suddenly be guarding the absolute fastest players in the basketball world. Why do Jimmer-maniacs totally discount defense as something that isn't important?
