If yor selecting bench players with lottery picks you are staying in lottery for a long time folks
Here's a list of NBA players who were the National Player of the Year in College. Let's see if they turned out to be starters or bench players.
- Joe Smith - Both
- Marcus Camby - Starter, All Star
- Tim Duncan - Starter HOF player
- Antawn Jamison - Starter, All Star
- Elton Brand - Starter, All Star
- Kenyon Martin - Starter, who knows how could he would have been without his lingering knee injuries.
- Shane Battier - Starter - Very solid player
- Jason Williams - Sadly ????? We will never know.
- T.J. Ford - Starter
- Jameer Nelson - Starter, All star
- Andrew Bogut - Starter, All star, lead the NBA in blocks
- J.J. Reddick - over 25 minutes a game guy, likely a starter now
- Kevin Durant - Starter, All star, Future HOF
- Tyler Hansbrough - Starter, is improving every year.
- Blake Griffin - Starter, All Star, probably a HOF type player (injuries might hold him from that)
- Evan Turner - Role guy and starter (started 14 games this year - I'm pretty sure he'll become a starter and stay a starter throughout his career.)
- Jimmer Fredette???
If we go by history, we should be thinking at very least, Jimmer will be a starter. I would like to hear a good argument against this.
