A Big Move on the Horizon?

I'd trade Burks for Leonard if it came with some first rounders and cash.

That is a bad bet... if you lose you are down a nut and the process to extract said nut can't be fun... if you win you just won a nut... bad deal by you.
Lol. Good point

I think waiving Diaw decreased the likely hood of anything happening before the season starts.

Jazz open the season with this:

Gobert/Jerebko/Bradley
Favors/JJ/Udoh/Bolomboy
Ingles/Sefolosha
Hood/Mitchell/Burks
Rubio/Exum/Neto

I'm aware this probably isn't a perfect depth chart.

Yeah unless a trade comes along that the Jazz really like I think we're done for the most part.

I see us on opening night with the following lineup unless something happens
Gobert/Udoh
Favors/Johnson/Jerebko
Ingles/Sefolosha
Hood/Mitchell/Burks
Rubio/Exum

Not suiting up
13- Neto
14- Bradley
15- Bolomboy or Griffin

Two way contract
16- Williams-Goss

My only question is do they keep Bolomboy or do they sign Griffin? Or do they keep Bolomboy AND sign Griffin? Having both just seems a little redundant to me.

So, because Bradley is not a 2-way guy though probably a G-League guy, the Jazz would have to give Griffin a 2-way contract?

Yeah roster is full... can't two way Bradley. I think Griffin will get a guaranteed contract and at very least would start the season in the d league... the money isn't that far away from if he got a couple 10 days at some point.

Why give NGW a two way?

He's awful.

Those are the types that will get those deals though.

I agree Paige, Goss, Wallace can all bail... I'd like to get someone with more upside but I just think the money is too good overseas for good prospects and some guys will prefer to be unencumbered by the two way deal. It isn't as good as it is cracked up to be.

What is a horizon anyways. It could mean by tomorrow. It could mean by next year. Pretty subjective if you ask me.
Saying something is on the horizon is a way to claim credit but not take any blame.

Possibly but given the context of the thread and recent moves I think it's reasonable to assume the OP meant fairly soon (couple weeks at most).

As it was Windhorst's claim on a podcast a couple days ago that prompted this thread, it should be noted that his words were "Utah is primed to make a deal here RELATIVELY SOON."

I for one am not going to hold my breath. These last couple days have been pretty amazing and really completely filled my wish list. As far as Favors or Burks, there's not a chance in Haites we get anywhere close to what they should be worth and in that case I'd just as soon hang on and see what they do this season.

The Knicks just got their GM. There really is no deadline anymore on potentially getting a trade done. It could happen anytime. I don't think Diaw's contract was the difference between being able to get a deal done or not.

I think we are involved... teams were pissed they took the trade of the board for now... they probably told people that we need to get our new GMs opinion before finalizing this. We knew at that point we weren't getting anything done by the contract guarantee date. He wasn't necessary but if there was something close we probably keep it there just in case.

I think it's funny that some posters think two guys signed here just to never play... sefolosha made sense as we needed a 3 but as constituted we wouldn't play Udoh much at all and Jonas would get 5 minutes a night maybe. I think these guys likely had better options than spot minutes in Utah.

I doubt telling people that you're going to trade someone to allow them to play is part of negotiating with FAs. Favors is our starting 4 and Jerebko and Udoh can each average 18 minutes a night.
