Starting with
DFavors , Last year he was 265#'s,he had knee and back issues....this year 250-253#'s it won't interfere with his strength down low and he needs to anyways as he will be left behind in the Rubio era of more fast break opportunities

Gobert, Last year he was 245#'s ,the way he's working out I could easily see him come to training camp at 255#'s and staying around this weight.Becoming a focus of entry passes on PNR's should help him shed defenders easier.

Hood ,Last years weight of 206#'s won't be enough as he becomes more a 2/3 in offense and defense.Love to see him up around 218# range of more muscle. If he is to be counted on more points his present weight will lead to a continuation of nagging injuries as his usage increases.

Exum,Last years weight of 190#'s is great for a lightening quick first step BUT it hampers is completing the play at the rim. With a offseason under the trainers of the Jazz I'm hoping their getting Him above 200#'s this season ,keeping him active and quick defensively and more a force going to the rim.

Burks was 214#'s,he needs to be around 218# to still be active and to absorb the hits as defenses will test him to see if he can finish at the rim like they will with Exum.

Imgles and the rest look to be at ideal weights already.

Most of the added weight or loss of weight are in anticipation of more fastbreaks and uptempo running more offensively and for gambling defense with Gobert and a lighter Favors behind them.

In honor or Jody Genessy, and this thread, let's have everyone post their ideal weight to come back to next season.

I'll go first:

265

I'm going to add 15 lbs of muscle like every NBA player always does

Every off-season! They literally have 500 lbs of muscle each. A normal human being can build 30 extra lbs of muscle over a lifetime of working out, but not NBA players!

If I could add 15-25 pounds I'd be quite happy. Never going to happen. I weigh the same as I did when I graduated high school.

Exactly... always made me laugh.

Well a lot of it is they lose so much weight during the season that a lot of that is just them gaining weight back from less activity as well as putting your more strength.

I'm 5'11" and 3/4's weigh the most I ever have in my life at 180'ish, would like to get down to 170, for a frame of reference I graduated HS at about 118. Remember when DWill called CJ skinny fat, pretty sure he really was talking to me at least since I've gotten into my late 30's now 40's.

Oh and for the OP, yes with today's NBA and Favors injuries I think ideally wouldn't want him over 250.

I'm 6'2 and plan on getting down to about 240 pounds, hopefully by early next year. By cutting out starch and sugar and working out I've been dropping 2-4 pounds per week. I'm around 280 now, that said last time I was down at 240 I was running 5 clicks a day. I'm just naturally heavily built, when I used to play ball as a teenager I was about 220, I can't see myself getting down to that weight without losing muscle.

I, on the other hand, am 6'4 and weigh in at a perfect 210. Fatty.

Im 6 foot 3 and weigh 200 even. I have been doing 120 push ups, 100 pull ups, plus lunges and squats (just body weight squats) every day for about 4 months now and recently started lifting weights. weight has not changed at all. Do have more muscle definition though.

I would prefer to be 195 with no gut.

100 pull ups? That's crazy. Btw, if you're looking to build muscle, you do a few reps for major muscles until failure each week.

Well I shouldnt have said pull ups. I don't know what to call them but they are kinds like pull ups except much easier. Basically I'm hanging from a horizontal pipe about 3 or 4 feet off the ground with my heels touching the ground. Then I pull my chest up to the pipe and back down.

I'm gonna try your advice on the lifting.
So when you say a few reps what do you mean? Like 8 reps? How many sets? How many times per week?

I only lift for about 20 minutes per day before work btw.

Those are called an inverted row. Thats a solid choice to pair with all those pullups.

Thanks, and yes that makes sense as for what they are called. You nailed it.

I figured push ups focus on chest and triceps so I wanted to do something for back and biceps and figured the inverted row would do the trick.
