Could Donovan become the GOAT?

I also wonder how all this don dada attention is affecting Rudy. Knowing Rudy, he is probably hungry as **** and chomping at the bit to get on the court and get his share of the spotlight back.

Good question. I think Rudy is just focused on getting back to dominating and doesn't care about attention too much...

But how is Favors' play affecting Rudy? He's gotta think about how good Donovan and Derrick have been playing together. We talk a lot about Rubio in the lineup with Favors and Rudy but is Donovan more effective with Favors or Rudy?

What would u trade to get him, can we afford him? He's not exactly a star, I don't think

I’d say Hood but that puts them in the same cap dilemma. I think he makes around $22M.

It doesn't matter. Rudy is signed for the long term. Derrick and Rudy don't fit together. Favs can only play the 5. And you can't pay a player $15M (or more) to play 14 mins/per behind Rudy.

But if Rudy comes back in a couple of weeks and isn't clicking right away what does Quin do? What if we are on a big winning streak as the schedule softens? In that case does he play Favors more?

That would benefit Rudy because he needs to get back slowly and not risk another injury. Who knows, maybe with a slower return they'd (Quin is part of this too) find a way to co-exist?

Probably not, but if you look at it like he could actually get a lot better since he is a rookie, then I suppose its possible. Its just hard to imagine he gets a lot better, but you never know. He looks like he is already a veteran and getting the most out of his body.

This is how it should be in the NBA. Players should come in when they are ready to play. Not as babies and we have to wait 3 or 4 years til they mature and develop.

My grandma would be more effective playing with Rudy and Derrick than Rubio is

If Lebron joins Donovan we could be contenders instantly. Seems crazy to think Lebron would ever want to live in Utah but I bet he would love to play with Donovan and Rudy. Too bad LA got Kuzma because without him does Lebron still want to join LA? Who knows though, if Donovan gets even better could Lebron put it out there that he'd love to play with him? Probably a bigger stretch than Donovan becoming the GOAT but fun to dream.
I dont think LeBron could handle the infrastructure in Utah. He wants to be the coach, He would have a hard time deferring to Snyder because Snyder never played in the NBA.

Is your grandma Larry Johnson?
Repped.

In the 90s I was bored and wanted my grandma to play basketball with me. I referenced that Larry Johnson’s grandma played with him (though for whatever reason I was remembering this as Kevin Johnson).

ETA: isn’t that a fairly obscure NBA reference for 90s Australia? Can’t imagine that’s running there and then.

nah there was plenty of NBA ads and stuff in the height of the Jordan days

GOAT? I would say he isn't tall enough or physically dominating enough to be the GOAT. As his career goes on he will have to use craft and skill to beat players where now he athleticism that dominates to add to the craft and skill.

Still, we are talking about a player who plays similarly offense as Damian Lillard, who looks like he can become a defensive stopper, and who is on a team that is managed well (unlike the Blazers). I think the type of players that the Jazz surround Mitchell with will help predict his ceiling more than Mitchell alone.

Screw combining him with Otto Porter. Word on the street is that Giannis isn't happy in Milwaukee. Trade away your life to get Giannis, Rudy, and Mitchell on the same team and get some titles coming to Utah. Nuff said.

I hear you on size/physical dominance, but I think that depends on what position he evolves into. If he's a career combo guard, you're probably right, a 6'2" (ish) guard will never physically dominate other shooting guards in the league.

On the flip side - if he grows into a true point guard - he absolutely has the tools to be physically dominant. Plus-size at 6'2" with elite quickness, explosiveness, and length (6'10" wingspan).

I thought he has a 7'0 wingspan?

U think the wiz would take Hood for him? I don't.
I’d say most likely not. I honestly have no idea what they want or how they value Porter and his contract. All I know is that if we made a move it would have to include Hood as they ain’t doing it for anyone else (that we’d deal).

Very good point. Still, point guards have never been in competition for the Greatest of all Time. It has always been Dominating Small Forwards / Shooting Guards or Centers. Allen Iverson dominated the league for a year or two, but he wouldn't be in the GOAT conversation. Stockton leads multiple all time categories and he sometimes makes a top 50 players of all time conversation. The league is changing, but it's a valid thought. Lebron physically dominates opponents and has made 8 straight Finals doing it.

Here's to hoping....

Even still, I think that D.Mitch will be a HOF candidate in 20 years and a top player in the league for the next decade plus barring injuries. It will be a party and I am pumped to watch!

This is why I'm so adamant at not wanting him to be a pg. one of the few smaller players to be this kind of player was Wade, I think they are similar body types, hoping Mitchell can have a Wade type impact.
