Hood is the reason 3.0 (Thanks for reading)

Studies on streak shooting crunch numbers but neglect the psychological components of different game settings under which certain circumstances that would validate or nullify “hot criteria” can’t be measured.

If he is a spot shooter for us, he has to start. He can't run the offense and is an average passer. I think DM is best suited at SG. That's why he needs to play SF as a starter.

Is Hood better than Ingles at starting SF?

DM is a PG for this team once Rubio is gone (and I hope that is sooner rather than later).

DM needs to play next to a switchy defender on the perimeter that's an efficient, unselfish shooter on offense. I'd rather him play as the 1 (the shortest Jazz player), but playing next to a large PG that isn't ball dominant works also.

I like George Hill. I think it would be good for everyone if he came back.

Hood needs to go back to starting. Rubio needs to come off the bench.

Hood needs to play with better players and be less relied on to create. He is trying to do too much of the bench.

If he played with starters and played within the system and stuck to what he is good at we would be better.

Start Mitchell, Hood, Ingles, Sef and Favors.

Just a quick question I'm going to put here.

Why does Quin believe that Thabo and Jonas should not be on the floor together? Thabo can play the 3, and the way Hood and Burks have been playing both of these guys have been more effective than them at times. I'd love to see both of these guys on the floor just to see if it can work.

My dream lineups for this team when healthy.
1st team
Mitchell/Ingles/Thabo/Favors/Gobert.
2nd team
Neto/Burks/Hood/Johnson/Jerebko

I left Rubio out on purpose, I want him gone and hate seeing him in the game. Both Mitchell and Neto are better than him. Thabo and Hood could be interchangeable. Thabo and Johnson can play SF is stretches, especially Thabo. I don't need to see any more Udoh. He just isn't good enough on offense to justify minutes.

Honestly I'd still keep one of Favors/Gobert on the floor at all times with limited minutes together. Jerebko, Johnson and Thabo are all pretty interchangeable as well with Jonas being the one guy that shouldn't play SF.

rotation
C Gobert/Favors
PF Favors/Johnson/Jerebko
SF Thabo/Ingles/Hood
SG Ingles/Hood/Burks
PG Mitchell/Neto/ Maybe some spot minutes for Ingles or Burks at PG for Foul Trouble.

I also like O'Neal and wonder if he should be getting more of Burks' minutes.

My fellow jazzfanicans the hood experiment needs to end. He waived off the more complete scorer to shoot up a shot we didn’t need from a distance that was unnecessary. Dm could have gotten to the cup... the play quiz drew up was hot garbage though...

I would so love to swap him for Rubio

Unfortunately i feel management don't want to be seen admitting a mistake by trading Ricky. I think he'll be here through next season

Hood should be trying new things. IDK why people are so down on him when he fails. I'd rather him try and fail than just play safe. The Jazz shouldn't be looking to maximize wins anyway. We always knew this would be a rough year for Hood. It's a growth year.

would jazz mgmt trade Rubio for Hill straight up? Probably not .... we wished Rubio to have Hill's skills and wished Hill had Rubio's character and integrity ... this belongs in the Utah Jazz Bible man!

I actually came here to say Hood is terrible and found there is already a thread! For a guy who is known for his shooting, he shoots 41% FG for his career, 40.8% so far this year.

The issue that bothers me the most is that he always has his mind made up already when he catches the ball, it's either a Pick & Roll with a big ONLY when Quin calls for it, or "Hey i'm going to shoot this regardless" (most of the time) and never looks to pass. He doesn't even look elsewhere. It's very sad to watch because it just shows his lack of basketball IQ. He also doesn't do anything other than shooting 3s and take contested jumper when his mind is made up. I've wanted him gone since his 2nd year.

I actually want the Jazz to tank this year - there are at least 6 potential franchise players in this draft class, so i don't mind that much that he's hurting the team, but please be gone next year.

Rod can still be a valuable part of this team, his next bit of growth is having tried a bunch of new things to then understand what he can and can't do and mold his game accordingly

Part of it is that the Jazz really need him to score so I think he feels like he has to force things. That may or not be true, but w/ the addition of Rubio to the team it certainly feels like it.

How often in basketball does a player get a bigger role and then the player gets worse? It's not common. Hood is scoring more points but he's less effective then he should be.
