What's new

Nikola Mirotic

Mmm, Rubio averaged 16ppg on 42fg% and 35.3% from 3 in 24 games after the All-Star break. So yeah, it's rare but players do have hot shooting streaks for a long stretch and then regress.

Contract years anyone?

Another example, Dion Waiters. He shoot 39.5% on 3s last year. Even fully healthy, I don't think that was sustainable

Ricky has very rarely had high scoring games in his career. Mirotic, when he's gotten consistent minutes, has had a ton.

I don't think amount of points is that important, but shooting percentage above career averages. I believe Mirotic is a better player this season but I don't expect him to be this good in the long term. I mean, 46% on 3s on more than 6 attempts? That will drop a bit to 38, 39%. Still, an improvement nonetheless

38-39% while hoisting 9 threes per 36 minutes is a gigantic feat. Take a look at the list of people who can do that.

Rubio and Burks plus a protected 1st for Mirotic plus whatever salary to make it work. Or just Rubio if we can't make the salary work.

They get their first, we clear some salary that won't hurt them. They need some salaries for the next couple years of tanking.

Then we can use favors and JJ for something else. Or even Hood if it's a good trade. I think there are some great options to go after with these guys.

I think we can wait it out and try to get a better deal, but if some other contender comes in and grabs him because we were willing to give a couple seconds but not a 20-30?

I think we'd pause because we'd feel bad sending Rubio to basketball hell, but for whatever reason I don't think we'd pause at sending Burks to basketball hell.

That's Sacramento! :D. Don't get confused my friend haha. Chicago actually have some nice pieces

Yeah, I think Mitchell has been the best rookie this season.

But if there was a redraft today I'm not sure he goes first. I think it goes Tatum, Markkanen then Mitchell. Having a 7' sharp shooter who can drive is special to build around. Markkanen might be a better prospect than Porz.

Chicago only has $83 million in contracts right now. They have to get to $89.1 or they pay a fine similar to the luxury tax. So the Burks and Rubio for Mirotic does have a little more enticement to it. If Chicago sees their expirings for 2019 as assets, maybe Chicago does that trade.

Mirotic
for
Rubio, Burks, our unprotected 2018 1st

Bulls reach salary floor, get a likely lottery pick, lose more to improve their 2018 pick, and have tons of 2019 expirings.

We get Mirotic and comfortably re-sign Hood and Exum. And we could make moves with Favors and JoeJ

That would be very dumb to give our pick unprotected. I would lottery protect it this year. That's a fair trade. At the very very least top 3 protect it.

Would he crack 36min? Nope. Since Snyder arrived only one player has cracked that mark. Hayward in 2015 with 36.2mpg

Using 36 per min is a bit tricky. Numbers just don't multiply from whatever production you are getting now.

Yet, if we acquire him, I can see Mirotic playing a bit more, between 26 to 30 minutes per game and hoisting about about 6 to 7 threes per game. There are currently 20 players shooting at least 38% on at least 6 attempts. That's very good and would be a big boost in our offense.

I'm just sayin'. I don't think he is this good. Maybe a 28-30mpg, 15-16ppg on 39% on 3s. More like a rich man Ryan Anderson
