Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Hadn’t heard that. So, then sub Bolden with either Korkmaz or the rights to Anzejs Pasechniks. Would that be palatable? Would it be enough for both sides to consider it?

I think if the Jazz take the contract of Jerryd Bayless then there's a good chance we can get a pick + one or two young prospects. A deal similar to the one Handlogten's Heros suggested about ten pages back.

76ers receive- Rodney Hood and Joe Johnson
Jazz receive- 76ers 2018 1st round pick (lottery protected), Jerryd Bayless, Furkan Korkmaz or TLC, and then maybe one of the players they hold the draft rights too (Pasecniks, Bolden, Lessort)

Yah if you want to play a shorter rotation, which the Jazz dont want to yet.

It would make no sense to trade him and it would upset the locker-room.

Ya I said in my post that they won’t trade him.
If they did though the rotation would be fine and so would the locker room.

Fournier would not be that big of an upgrade. Just maybe another trade to get us another couple of wins. The Jazz won the lottery with mitchell and with Gobert peaking, our only hope is to strike the lottery again, trade for a third star, or sign one in free agency. Trading away some of these players seem pointless right now. Hood, Favors, and Johnson seem to be the only realistic trade options for this season.

How do u suggest we trade for a third star?

No it wouldnt. Trading your stars best friend, who actually plays well, for no reason is not good for the locker-room.

Do you not remember when KOC traded Brewer and it pissed DWill off? That may have been the beginning of the end.

Hood is good, but Hood isnt get back 3 positive assets good.

The locker room would be fine. I have faith in this coaching staff and roster.

I agree that we are going for the playoffs no matter what. My point was this - if they are on the fence and don't know if they should trade a starter (and Favors is the only one), then use Monday night's result as a tiebreak.

From a fan's perspective, I could go either way with it. Favors helps us make the playoffs more that anybody except for an unlikely upgrade (Gordon for example). I also think his chances of staying are between 1 and 5%. However, I think it is massive for the culture of the team if we get to the playoffs or close. We got guys ready to win right now.

I'm honestly not sure about this. I think that there's a decent chance that Jerebko starting and more minutes for Udoh actually gets us more wins than continuing to play Favors so much. Even last game there were a bunch of possessions where a stretch 4 would have been so much more effective. The one thing that we could miss with Favs is a PnR big in the second unit. But depending on who you get back in a Favs trade that might not be a problem either. I still think Favs is only staying if the Jazz don't get a decent offer for him.

This is what I've been saying. Playing Favors isn't bad, but it's keeping a better offensive (stretch) option or defensive (Udoh) option off the floor.

Keep Neto. He’s useful and I could see him sticking around. He’s a good shooter and can share the floor with any of our other guards. He keeps getting better too.

If you get a good offer for Hood or Favs take it... pretty simple really.

Kill me for it but I actually liked LoPo's idea of Favors and Hood to Atlanta for Ilyasova and Belinelli plus a pick. Or maybe it was Burks.

Hood, Burks and our 2nd (because Atlanta doesn't have a 2nd) for Belinelli, Ilyasova and Houston's 1st (Atlanta still has 2 1sts after this trade).

If we switch out Burks with Favors, we should keep our 2nd and ask for Minnesota's 1st which will be a few spots higher than Houston's.

It was Burks... I'd do it too, but you have to think about what Atlanta does... they generally take the wing prospect and make them good then move them before they get paid. This would kinda run counter intuitive, but maybe they think Hood doesn't get paid.

Any time I propose something I really try and look at what the other side might think and assume they are run competently. I think the management there is committed to losing this year and will likely take salary dumps for draft assets not the other way around.

Not sure why we'd trade Neto. I actually would love to re-sign him long term. I believe he'll be a RFA after 2018-2019, which is when Rubio comes off the books, and I'd love him as a backup PG to Dante/Donovan for 2019-2020 and onward.

Atlanta is smart to pursue Favors both on and off the court. If they can get him now, they might be able to convince him to sign in the summer. He's a great fit. Hood is another smart buy for Atlanta. He is 25 and they might get him at a bargain because there are so few buyers this summer.

If they get both those guys for a pick in the 20's and expirings, that's great business for the Hawks. I just wish we could get them to take Burks too.

Just read Milwaukee lowballed Parker at 3 yrs and $54m last summer.

Lindsey somehow needs to dump Burks so Utah can open up a huge salary slot. Milwaukee isnt going to want to land deep into the tax.

I don't think it's that simple for Utah.

If you deal Favors then you need to find a replacement for Favors. The Jazz currently have 3 PF's on the roster, but the word seems to be that JJ is getting bought out post-deadline if he isnt moved. If you move Favors, then all you are left with is Jerebko. They'd also have Niang on a 2-way contract, but for a team trying to make a playoff push it seems unlikely that they would want to go w/ a Jerebko/Niang rotation at the 4.

*Id love to see Niang get minutes though just to see if he can play in the NBA. He has been incredible in the G-League*
