Well, if the expectation regarding Exum is reaching a Roberson-like level, then I don't think it matters much if he is re-signed at all, since we are talking about very marginal players. Roberson, for instance, has had a PER around 10.0 each season of his career -- a PER of 15.00 means that the player efficiency is on par with league average. He is basically an enforcer with no discernible skills, including shooting. The problem is that Exum doesn't even seem cut out to be an enforcer. What can he become?
What is the MLE next year?
IHowever, OKC was better when he played. I don't know the exact statistic, but OKC gave up something like 10 less points per game when Roberson played.
Starts around $8M a year... little over.
8 mil a year for 2 years that is the max I would give it and it is very generous offer based on what we have seen so far. His real value is more in 3-4 mil range if not less.
Exum can be that other guy that breaks the paint and gets the defense rotating. He’s a guy that raises the ceiling of this team and I don’t think he will get an albatross contract and may turn out to be a bargain on a long term deal.
Oh come on, lets not get silly... Scottie was pure strength and explosiveness, lean but steal strong muscles. Exum is a marshmallow on the other hand. We're talking about a guard with some of the physical traits of a Scottie Pippen.
