Game 3 WCSF: Thank you, Kobe! — Rockets @ Jazz 5/4/2018 8:30 pm MST

We're handicapped with Mitchell at the point. Quin admitted that he dumbed-downed our offense so that Donovan wouldn't be overwhelmed by having to run the offense and score. The problem is, without using our extended playbook, our ball movement is dead and so is our offense. Since, Joe has shown that he can't run the point-forward against Houston, then we need to replace Royce with either Neto to run the point, or Exum to play the 2. We may also need to start Crowder over Favors. (Without ball movement, the Gobert-Favors tandem just doesn't work against Houston.)

Did not watch the game, but have it recorded. Reading some posts it looks like I better not torture myself. Was there anything positive at all?

The Rockets came out and took the Jazz out of what they wanted to do. They Blitzed Donovan and pressured the rest of the guys. They also came out and played to make shots not draw fouls. Harden actually didn't flop nearly as much as the first 2 games and just came out looking for what the Jazz gave him.

That was a tough game to watch. Hopefully they play better next game.

I luckily missed every minute of this stinker.

Game 4 is obviously a must-win, and our only chance at this series rests on Rubio being able to return for game 5.

They were condescending after Jazz' game 2 win, talking about how they should play hard "regardless of who they're playing" blah blah. Then they come out of the gate with a lot of intensity and "we're way better than you" attitude, and put the game to rest before the first quarter ended.

An absolute embarrassment. I turned it off at half time. Wanted to cry.

I'm really ****ing tired of the turnovers. Many of them are so pathetically bad and avoidable and it's been happening too often.

OKC1 = 14 turnovers and loss
OKC2 = 14 turnovers and win
OKC3 = 19 turnovers and win
OKC4 = 11 turnovers and win
OKC5 = 16 turnovers and loss
OKC6 = 13 turnovers and win
HOU1 = 18 turnovers and loss
HOU2 = 17 turnovers and win
HOU3 = 16 turnovers and loss

15.33 turnovers a game. We averaged 14.8 per game during the regular season so I guess considering we're playing playoff teams and not scrubs every night, 15.33 is about to be expected. But I still can't accept it. So many of them are just careless, lazy passes and shouldn't happen and I don't understand what the hell's going through the player's mind when they decide to pass some of them. Terry Rozier had 9 assists the other night and zero turnovers. As a team, the Celts had 23 assists the other night and just 9 turnovers. 27 and 10 the game before that. 28 and 14 before that. 18 and 9 before that. 22 and 17 in game 5 vs the Bucks.

That's 118 assists and 59 turnovers. An exact 2:1 ratio.

We, on the other hand, had 17 and 16 last night. 26 and 17. 20 and 18 before that. 16 and 13 before that. And 19 and 16 prior.

That's 98 assists and 80 turnovers.

This isn't about the Celtics but what the **** that ratio isn't acceptable. And it's not simply because Rubio is out. Even when he was playing, we weren't much better.

We've averaged 17 turnovers a game this series. That won't come close to cutting it against a phenomenal offense.

We need to try to limit TO's to about 13-14.

Yeah TO's have been an issue all season, so I guess it should be no surprise it still is and is even worse in the playoffs. Heck even when Rubio is going well he'll have a couple of TO's for TD's (easy dunks & 3's) every game, from a fan's perspective many of these are just lazy automatic type of passes and are so infuriating. Especially when teams know the play and are overplaying that play and first pass the Jazz seem to be horrible and recognizing or reacting to that and backdoor, reverse the ball or counter play that.

Also for all the Jazz development coaching they REALLY need to teach post entry passing and post positioning (a lot like boxing out) to make it easier for the passer. I understand that today's game isn't feed the post but as part of ball movement and the Jazz having advantage when their are mismatches it is and should be a part of the offense and one IMO that isn't used enough.

I was driving last night. The jazz radio network is a sad shell compared to what it once was, so i could only catch a faint signal on the hilltops.

I heard jazz open with a bucket then faded out, when it came back in the score was 12-3 or something. I could tell by Lockes voice it was over.

When houston replaces Ariza with Lebron they will be special. I hate the nba.

Gob bless you
As stated, the Rockets are not designed for play8off basketball. They are not playing to win games, but playing to game the system. It worked fabulously in the regular season, just enough to reinforce such bad habits that are now too hard to correct and overcome. We’ve begun the process of getting in their heads as the pressure will now be mounting on Paul, Harden, and D’Antoni with their past playoff performances.

Jae has, as predicted, started to rattle Harden.

And then there’s this guy:

Harden, thinking he can get under skin himself, has his plan foiled and completely backfire thanks to Ingles:

And Jingles be getting under skin...

Thanks to Ingles, he also got an early start to this...

Mike Tyson makes JazzFanz history as he makes his debut appearance in game threads. He goes on to lead the Jazz to a 9-game winning streak. As today is May the Fourth, this one’s for you, buddy!

And a special shoutout to the guy who helped us be aggressive and hone that killer instinct.

Is this thread lacking in rich storyline, silly photoshops (let’s be real, it’s MS Paint), and awesome GIFs? Yes, yes it is. Stories and GIFs have not been forgotten but are pending and in the wings. But that will all be made up for, and explained by, tonight’s game thread girl — my girl:

Born last night, she’s the 5th (and final) of five children, and our only girl. Would be great for her birth date to be straddling Jazz playoff victories!
God bless your baby girl. Also thank you so much for your effort and enthusiasm as a Jazz fan. This has been such a special season and you have provided so much flair. Thank you.

Ps. Congrats again on your new entry into the world!

Time to regroup. 11 games away from a championship. Donovan and Rudy aren’t going to be happy with their efforts and I hope they both take it to the Rockets in game 4.

The Jazz learn from their mistakes and work hard to correct them. They got lulled to sleep by winning Game 2 and coming back home thinking the crowd would lift them up. Played with little energy or sense of urgency (except O’Neale who was excellent in both areas) and they can’t afford to do that against this team. I think they’ll respond accordingly.

The players. Quin and the coaches. Even DL and evaluating future roster configurations. The entire organization is learning a to about themselves over the course of this year and will keep staying hungry for improvement.
