They were condescending after Jazz' game 2 win, talking about how they should play hard "regardless of who they're playing" blah blah. Then they come out of the gate with a lot of intensity and "we're way better than you" attitude, and put the game to rest before the first quarter ended.

An absolute embarrassment. I turned it off at half time. Wanted to cry.

This is an underrated comment.

I thought Houston was absolutely dismissive of Utah following their loss in game two. They just basically laughed it off and the vibe I got was that, despite Utah winning that game, they still didn't respect the Jazz. That sucks extra hard because they went out and completely and thoroughly did everything they could to prove that thought right. Their not needing to worry about little ol Utah was validated and so was their dismissive approach to game two. It's clear Houston has zero respect for Utah's ability in this series and the kicker? They're probably justified in those thoughts. Houston, even after losing home court advantage, just kinda shrugged like it was no big thing. And it wasn't.

It's like those scenes in a movie where the tough guy takes a few punches and just laughs before landing the knockout blow.

If anything DM stopped listening to Kobe's advice for this game. He started driving from nearly half court again, he continued to try scoop layups instead of putting his body into the defenders and forcing the refs to make a call, etc.

The point is he has him over thinking things. Now he does nothing right

Had to be at work at 5am this morning so I'm just watching the post game interviews and things, I was already only getting about 4hrs of sleep. So as upset and frustrated as I was with Mitchell and Gobert by the end of their post game interview I couldn't stay mad at either of them. Mitchell came out and said he hurt the team by not passing and basically the team would've been better off if he didn't play because he just didn't show up. So he took the loss really hard and then at the end Rudy was trying to pick him up by showing confidence in him and so Mitchell knows he and the rest of the team are still behind him.

So as I said it just reminded me as pissed as I was, I enjoy this team and their chemistry so much they truly are a joy.

I’m never a fan of people finding silver linings in obviously terrible outcomes, so don’t mistake this as that in any case, but I’m big in playing the hand you’re dealt. We certainly have angles to play the hand weren’t dealt, and Houston continuing to drink their own hype and believe they can just turn it on and off at will will add to their complacency, and we can take the lead in this series.

When Houston loses their next game, they won’t sweat it, which will ultimately lead to their next lost.

A stat that was interesting to me last night is the amount of times Mitchell has been blocked in the playoffs. Something like 18 times. He needs to do a better job deciding when to attack and kick as opposed to attack just for the sake of forcing something and getting rimmed by someone. He's a tweener and when he learns this, his game will get even better.

After watching, my 5 observations:

#1 - after we won game 2, we are playing with house money. This season is a huge success even if we lose the next 2 by 25.

#2 - Exum is valuable, but we need Rubio until Exum can lead us. Glad he is getting the minutes this year Mack got last year. Rubio is necessary.

#3 - like I have feared, Favors with Gobert is borderline worthless against these small ball Houston and GS teams. I want him back almost more for offcourt than on. He should likely go because 2 years in a row he hasn't helped in round 2.

#4 - Mitchell has struggled, but still so, so good. These drubbings and struggles will only make him better.

#5 - our off-season has to focus on getting scoring production from the 4 and bench.

My personal feeling is that a deep team like the Jazz should focus on getting to these types of games and then alternating Gobert and Favors at the 5 with versatile lineups that fit different roles. Gobert is defense stopping time, screens and rim running. Favors let’s you stretch the whole floor out a little better, pick and pop, and post up play inside.

IMO, Quin used Rudy too much last night if the plan was to go small at the 4 and run more. Both guys should play ferociously inside and use as many fouls as necessary to minimize Capella’s impact. Rudy seemed disinterested and should’ve been sat until it pissed him off enough to get a maximum effort.

Ideally, if you’re going to go small. . .

Split the 5 time between Gobert/Favors and then use whatever combination of Crowder, Jerebko, Jingles, O’Neale, Burks, Mitchell, Rubio, Exum and Neto that you need to. Would be better to have Sefalosha to play the 4 with Favors (which I think was a great combination while Rudy was out hurt.) I still think that keeping Favors has to be priority #1.

Agreed, and Donovan has really set a high standard for himself. But he’ll learn and get better. He’s definetly struggles running the offense and making certain decisions, and that’s okay. I think all fans are behind Donovan- mistakes, bad nights, good nights, and learning curves are a part of every players journey, he said just had so few of them it suprised is all when he’s having to figure something out. No matter what happens the next couple games, we have the best kid in the NBA and he will do everything possible to correct whatever he needs to work on by next season. It’s been a great season, and Donovan’s been the funnest player I’ve ever watched. He’ll bounce back, by tomorrow though I’m sure, I would expect nothing less.

I think you're right...if it happens against a team that can beat 'em. Utah isn't that team, unfortunately. We're just not built to do it. I think OKC probably could have because they've got the talent (though, not the discipline). If this happens against GSW, though, they're ****ed.

Um...guess you missed game two. I believe we can beat them but it takes a near perfect effort. Good game plan and a little heart in game four I think we're back in this.

Yes and Golden State beat Dallas in 2007 ... doesn't mean I think the Jazz beat 'em if the Warriors don't win that series.

OKC has the fire power to match Houston. We struggle here. Especially when we fall behind. Do I think OKC wins the series? No. Do I see them getting blown out like the Jazz has in two of the last three games? No. And I could see Houston's indifference coming back and biting them in the butt against a team like OKC, who thrives on streaky shooting, compared to the Jazz.
