Jazz Free Agency Summer of 2018

Yes. The tax level is based on total dollar salary. The MLE just allows you to sign someone when you have no cap space.
Im pretty sure that going over the tax to use the MLE limits you to the lower version of it - similar to what Cousins and Howard both signed for.

No... if you start over the tax you get the lower one... once you use the MLE you are hard capped at the apron which is 130M... so there is a limitation there.

We won’t go into the tax... honestly and truly we should cut Jonas and sign Niang.

Similar to Rodman and Phil Jackson, perhaps. But Rodman put in 100% effort on the court and he was weird. Whereas Boogie is a condescending dick to teammates. Which requires adult supervision.

Good point on Rodman. That was wild when he would go out of the game and ride his exercise bike near the bench. What a nut. And yeah, Boogie will need to mature and be humble. Torn achilles might help him chill. And being around good guys like Steph, Klay, Durant, Iggy, etc. Will he be able to check his ego?

Niang looks like a NBA player. How much cheaper would he be than Jonas?

That could come in handy when we go after Mirotic or Butler, right? But I think Niang is probably a downgrade from Jonas.
No, it would actually be more advantageous to have Jerebko in that hypothetical, assuming he was in the deal. But there’s no reason for NOP to trade him.

Jonas is bigger and a better athlete.

He’s not a better basketball player though... Niang is better at shooting passing and dribbling
