If not Rubio then what?

No, that would be the opposite of smart. Smart is forcing your way out into a bigger role. No one is paying him for the trash he is putting up. He is playing his way out of money currently.

Nah... he can play the potential card. Tough to play well in 10-15 minute stints. Teams and fanbases (and certain posters here) all remember Scary Terry.

There is enough money out there a team talks themselves into overpaying him if he's on a good team... a team will make it a bigger offer to make sure Boston doesn't match. Go to phoenix or Orlando and get exposed in more playing time and also remove a few teams that aren't as interested because his team will just match.

Ehhh, I just don't think he is going to get his money, or at least the money he wants, if he stays on Boston. He can't get much worse than he's playing right now.

In a league that’s becoming more and more offensive-minded like the NFL, it is an issue. We don’t need to pay 11M for a bench guy with virtually no offensive skill.

You are way too low on him. He lives at the rim... takes half his shots there. He does that without much threat of a jumper... add in a little bit there and he becomes tough to stop. You can be a one trick pony... if that one trick is really valuable. He plays really good defense too.

We are at a point in the season where one shot rattles in or out and it makes a huge difference in a guys numbers. Exum has had a couple threes rattle in and out... if one more had rattled in he goes from 29% on threes to 33%... two more and we are looking at a 38% shooter from three.

It is harder to come in cold and shoot too... not making excuses for him, but the sample size is pretty small and I see a guy who has been effective at some important things. Not saying he should start but he's made progress.

I know a lot of dudes think Rozier is extra-over-hyped.... but I'm definitely intrigued by his fit here.

I can see why some are intrigued... he played well in the playoffs... but as a starter last year in 16 games his TS% was just over 50%... Ricky has been at 46.6%.

He plays hard... he plays good defense and he is a better catch and shoot shooter, but the rest of his game is really rough. I prefer Exum on his deal if we made a change.

Based on either the cost to sign him or the acquisition cost to get him now... I'm just out.

I guess when there are no facts to backup your irrational dislike of someone then this is where you go.

Dante takes 50% of his shots at the rim. He isn't finishing as well as he did last year... but drawing fouls and putting pressure on the rim are huge. Even when he misses if the bigs have to help then it opens up offensive rebound opportunities.

I'm sorry he didn't magically turn to Steph Curry... but there is some progress there and some stuff to like. I don't think he has some Penny Hardaway upside... but one extra three falls (out of 21) or one extra layup and you are looking at 44/33 shooting percentages from a young player who is drawing a **** ton of fouls. Let's give him 10-20 more games before we make harsh judgments.

Like Cy said earlier, Exum is worth his contract on his defense alone. I think he will grow in confidence and provide more and more as the season progresses. He might end up being one of those unique defensive players like Bruce Bowen who is a stud on D and is a one trick pony on offense. I still want those type guys because the defense.

As for Rozier, he's a fantastic fit here if Mitchell takes over PG duties. Rozier shoots and plays defense better than Rubio. If we are running offense through Donovan (which we should), Rozier spreads the floor and makes us that much more dangerous. It would be very hard to go get Rozier right now because of the message it sends to Rubio.

Is Rozier really that good a defender? Dude is tiny.

He's good... seems that he has a long wing span (I didn't look it up). He's not elite though... not like Dejounte Murray or Beverly in his prime. I think Dante can be just as effective.

I think Terry could be a good third guard, but will get paid like a starter.

"Rozier has the physical tools to match up against NBA guards and nice size to boot. Measured at 6'2.25” with a 6'8.25” wingspan at the NBA Draft Combine, Rozier has a strong frame, long arms and good size for a point guard which will allow him to compete on both ends. Additionally, he possess excellent speed, agility and explosiveness to round out his strong athletic profile. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Terry-Rozier-58730/ ©DraftExpress"

What would it take to get Rozier in a trade? Would a protected 1st + Udoh get it done?

I think it would take our first rounder and actually could use a trade exception from the Joe Johnson buyout and save Boston $3 million. We might have to add Bradley if Boston likes Bradley.

Yes, this is where I ****ing go and it's so irrational even though I provided ****** ****ing stats for the season and alluded to his ****** ones for the entirety of his career, and didn't pull the ridiculous fairy tale "if one more fell" nonsense that could be said for literally every player and therefore makes the statement ludicrous though I'll concede slightly less ludicrous for him since he doesn't take a lot of attempts per game. But yeah, this is where I ****ing go.

Overreact some more though to me simply saying "Sigh," holy Christ.

Hmm, I kinda like that deal (not as enthusiastic with Bradley, but probably wouldn't break it). What do others think?

Not a fan. If they do a Rozier deal they will try to dip below the tax. Will help them avoid the repeater tax later. So they would not want Bradley... they'd want to send Rozier and likely Jabari Bird's contract to get them all the way below the tax. Maybe Guershon, but they picked up his option... which was weird imo.

Boston is at $126,408,547.
Luxury Limit is $123,730,000
Rozier makes $3,050,389

So if they dumped Rozier without taking back any salary, they would actually be right below the luxury line. ($123,358,158)

think rozier's defensive stats are over-inflated b/c the celtics have good overall team defense which inflates his stats.
Likely true, but they are a better defensive team with him on the court (though much worse offensively).

Jazz's offense really hasnt been that bad with Rubio. It's the defensive issues. I don't think they can be linked to any single player, it's a team wide thing currently. A guy like Rozier certainly won't save that. He will probably just make the offense worse.
