What's new

How much should we be talking about Donovan?

I guess I got faith in the guys making another 2nd half run again with the Jazz playing 25 of their last 41 games at home and the defense showing up in December. After this road trip they have three sets of 4 game homestands with 1 or 2 road games in between.
Look at their remaining schedule. There are home games but that hasn’t been their saving grace this year and there are still a lot of games against decent teams they haven’t proven they can consistently beat.

I think its amusing we all want him to be an alpha then complain when he attacks (myself included). I agree he needs more time to adjust his game and I would really like to see him attack with the intent of drawing the defense and kicking to the open man on occasion. Problem is, the open man misses the majority of the time. If they can put some reliable shooters around him it will help his game immensely. I doubt he will ever quit pressing, that is what winners do, but I think he will adjust his game as he progresses in the league. He has a burning desire to win on a average or slightly below average team. I think that is the main thing that is affecting him right now.
I mean I see what you’re saying, but he isn’t making it very often himself right now. He’s just making a lot of bad decisions right now. The cop out is to blame his teammates, I don’t think his current struggles are on his teammates, he makes some poor decisions.

The announcers on nbatv last night hit it on the head. He is taking ill advised, very difficult shots.

Mitchell could keep playing this badly until the end of the year and I wouldn't lose all hope.

But if it continued into next year then we can talk.

If he keeps making bad decisions this season I will lose hope. The coaching staff needs to do more, or if they and D isn't listening, then things are worse (don't think the latter is occurring).

Wouldn't it be weird if Dante ended up being a better player than Donovan? As much of a rollercoaster ride as Dante has been you can't deny his speed and ability to get to the rim lately. I think it's possible he might be on the cusp of being a 20 PPG guy.

It'd be weird for all the Dante haters out there, haha.
