CP3 on John Stockton

A little red meat for the old timers - CP3 questions the legitimacy of Stockton's assist numbers.

CP whining about something... me (shocked face) maybe it’s that he played 20 damn seasons and played every damn game IDK.

If anything assists are now more lenient than they were in stocktons day.

C pee is a whiner turd. He complains to the refs about everything. His career is almost done so he is bitter.

8th place, and worried about getting to 1st?
He should start by complaining about Kidd's stat guys everywhere he was or Magic's as a warm up before getting to Stock.
He's getting ahead of himself again.

As a side note, I'm super glad Nash got 1 more assist than Marc Jackson. For some reason that makes me giddy.

Where did that come from?
I think it came from straightlines mind. Probably because cp3 is in 8th place meaning 7 guys have more assists than him but he only questions the accuracy of the stats of one of those 7 guys and that guy happens to be white.
He could have questioned the accuracy of statistics during that entire era rather the accuracy of the statistics for one individual player.
Or he could have questioned the accuracy of the stats recorded for magic Johnson for example.

I know that there is a perception that white guys are not as good at basketball as black guys (for good reason since it's true) and maybe it hurts a guys pride more to be beaten by a white guy.

I think Chris is not only questioning our white star Stockton, but he is also questioning the integrity of our entire franchise. Could that also have other implications including race? I don't know, but this really pisses me off.

If somebody in our organization or in the national media doesn't blow a gasket over this, I'm going to be severely disappointed. If somebody were to question Magic's stats and the Lakers' integrity, tell me how that would play out...

The question is would he have questioned the assists leader if it were a black guy? I don't think he would... but... then again maybe it was just an off-the-cuff comment and he meant it as a compliment since Stockton's numbers are so gaudy.

I'm not sure if his handling of the Donald Sterling situation helps CP3's "Is he racist?" argument or hurts it.

Feel like it should be considered though.

What was his handling of it?

A day or two ago I was thinking about how wonderful it was to have two players and a coach (Stockton, Malone, Sloan) who were three amazingly tough guys who did what it took to win and were team-first.

Sure - they all had talent but the grit, focus and tenacity of them all (including Sloan when he played) is amazing and although I was a kid watching them I didn't fully appreciate how exceptional it was to maintain that season-after-season.

And, as someone mentioned in the Twitter thread, Stockton's home vs road assist #'s are comparable - 10.9 vs 10.1.

Guess who else averages .8 more assists at home over his career? That's right Chris Paul.

Chris mentioning John and trying to infer there was home cooking is like getting blown out by 50 and then saying the ref missed a couple calls and that's why you lost... which is 100% something Chris would do.

Chris has played 82 games in a season exactly once his career. Stockton did it 16 times... Prolly didn't mean to take a shot at the king, but you can tell he and others don't necessarily respect Stockton's greatness... the best part is Stockton gives zero effs... none.
