The Rockets lost tonight. The Blazers are up a bucket on the Warriors at half, but hopefully the Warriors catch fire and beat them. The Clippers are obviously going to beat the Suns. Can't wait for those 3 more games against the Suns, BTW.

I really don't think the Lakers will make the playoffs. The way things are shaping up, it will take 45 wins to get that 8th spot in the West. The Lakers are one game under .500 at the moment. They would have to finish 17-8 to do that. And we're assuming that other teams will not also kick it up a notch. We discovered last year how tough it can be to climb out of a hole. Everyone else is fighting hard as well, and barring injuries, teams that are currently occupying a playoff spot are unlikely to post a losing record the rest of the way. The Lakers locker room is downright poisoned right now and LeBron would probably have to run himself into the ground for them to suddenly win two-thirds of their games.

I think the 3 seed is still realistic, although the margin for error is pretty slim. If the Jazz can beat OKC twice, then there's only a 3 game gap to make up. With the difference in schedule strength that's not insane.
