I like Randle but I'm really iffy on the fit between him and Gobert. I know he's improved as a 3pt shooter but if the price tag for him is 20 mil a year and his 3pt shot stays around 35% I don't think that's going to make the Jazz certified contenders, and his FT% suggests that there isn't much improvement on that end to be made. I also have questions about how a Randle type player would work in a slower, more methodical offense that the Jazz have been know to run. But the upside is clearly there, and the idea of Randle just running wild on opposing benches in the Favors backup C role while also being able to fill the stretch 4 in the starting lineup is very tantalising.
I feel like you could get Bobby Portis on a much cheaper deal and he could do about 80 - 85% of what Randle does, but unfortunately he's a RFA so Washington probably match. Randle at like $15 mil a year is a much better sell.
If we had a legit power forward that shot 35% from 3 on volume shooting it would open things up in a significant way for the Jazz. Someone made the point earlier in the thread that Randle has been improving in places that aren't known for player development... maybe he becomes an even better player in Utah?
