A Place for Conservatives

Its pretty silly to call yourself a conservative or liberal. If you are on one side or the other you are probably giving into propaganda too much and not researching and forming your own opinions.

There are 1000's of issues in the world. Each of those issues you can take one side or the other. Why would you always take one side?

The entire point of a political party is so that you can get your voice heard on the issue/s you care the most about and are willing to relent on the other issues you dont care about.

I disagree with roughly 75% of the Rebublican stance on issues. I also disagree with roughly 74% of the Democrats stance on issues.

I tend to side with Democrats because of a few issues that I care more about and think that the Republican platform has more issues that I am morally against and think are awful. The main one being that the Rebublican platform is still opposed to Gay Marriage. I dont like the Democrats stance on that either but its not as awful as the Republicans. The government should have no part in defining relationships and I should not have to pay them money and time by having a marriage certificate through them. The other one is that Republican platform still supports parents being able to force their kids into gay conversion therapy, which is find morally reprehensible. You might as well support parents being allowed to torture their kids. Until the Republicans change this I wont vote for a Republican. I mainly vote Libertarian, Independent, or Democrat.

There are other things I oppose from both Parties but not as big of a deal to me.

I pretty much agree with everything you just said. There are about 4 people on this entire site that lean to the right as far as I can tell and it is fun to defend conservative ideas and thoughts. I am as open minded as it gets. I just question things that seem to freak people out around here. I am also plenty old enough to have figured many things out for myself.

What kind of scientific research did you do to become so knowledgeable about the global warming hoax?

It's more about the ridiculous fear-mongering going on in the news and media as a whole that I don't like. It is also about people like Al Gore that have gotten rich off ridiculous doomsday predictions that have no basis in fact and did not come remotely true. They are based on flawed computer models that all make the situation seem much worse than it actually is.

So you even admit that there is a problem, and it's the severity that is in question.

What a terrible disaster it would be if we attempted to clean up the planet and make the world a better place and it turned out the issue wasn't even as bad as we thought! Nightmare.

Do you own stock in an oil company or something?

There is a HUGE difference between taking care of our planet and cleaning up our trash, then what is proposed in those articles. There are quotes directly from the top climate change alarmists of what they want to do. Take a look.

First link:

The “emergency” session was first proposed by Toronto-area Liberal MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith. He was inspired by the latest United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that said countries such as Canada will need to cut their emissions almost in half within the next 12 years to prevent catastrophe.

So why exactly am I believing this columnist dude over the United Nations??

And man does he go out with a thud. Hardly says anything, just "That's too high of a carbon tax". He must know his audience, said absolutely nothing of value. No conflicting research, just some guy who had to use his heater last year, so how warm can the planet possibly be. "Stop fear mongering, the problem isn't that bad." Thanks bro!

Here, here!

Or is it hear, hear!?

Whatever, I second this post.
AOC is a rookie congresswoman being used as a foil by the state propaganda outlet.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using JazzFanz mobile app
Have you ever heard of the Green New Deal? Are you aware that several presidential candidates are now backing it? Any idea who wrote it? Oh yeah, that foil.

Note: I don't blame any Dems for being embarrassed by the prominent position that AOC has recently taken in their party.

You want to know how to sort the people truly concerned about global warming from the alarmist morons? Ask them how they feel about nuclear power. . .

Serious question. Are you someone that believes that the Earth is gradually and very slowly warming or are you someone that believes the world is going to end in 12 years?

As you can guess, I am definitely on the side that climate computer models are very flawed and have been proven to be flawed over the past 20 to 30 years.

To me, this article is very reasonable:
https://www.heartland.org/news-opinion/news/stop-the-anti-climate-science-totalitarians
That's an excellent article!

Of course, if one simply ignores everything there is to know about the Heartland Institute.

Take a really deep dive into the history of the Heartland Institute, and then get back to me. Be open minded about it.

Of course I know that won't happen, and really, that's all right. People just believe what supports their own position, and then just talk past each other. I'm no different.
It seems to me that the climate alarmists are not interested in a debate. They don't seem to think there is any need to answer the sorts of questions brought up in that Heartland article. They are great questions, even if there is some reason to doubt the motives of Heartland. I would think that honest proponents of Global Warming would welcome and want to answer questions like those. But instead the vast majority of these alarmists become angry and dismissive of anyone who is not on their bandwagon, and instead of providing evidence they make wilder and wilder claims. Beto said yesterday that we were facing the extinction of our species, that large bands of the earth would soon become uninhabitable, etc. Where is this insanity coming from? How come none of these people care that the temperatures over the last 20 years have come nowhere close to matching the dire predictions of the climate models? It feels like people are over-running the science for political gain.

Interesting. I didn't know that the Republican platform still supported conversion therapy. That surprises me. I think it's misguided, but I am much more aligned with the things Republicans are generally fighting for overall.

Being more aligned with the things Republicans are fighting for, what are your thoughts on universal health care? Just a flat rate like there is in Spain for instance, taken from everyone's salary in a set percentage. I find some stories of people going bankrupt here due to not being able to afford surgery quite incredible. Or paying a few grand for ambulance service, I mean seriously?

I've never had to do these acrobatics before, deciding whether if I should see a chiropractor, a physician or a neurosurgeon because going intrusive in my arm might cost me, my arm...

This, to me, is the very definition of a moderate. Some issues from both sides of the aisle, vote for the least reprehensible that fits their standards most closely. Is this a "new conservative" then?

Do you know who the Koch brothers are? Fossil fuel magnates who are among the 2 or 3 richest men in the world. The other side consists of maybe 2 percent of the scientists being paid off by them. There is no other side, Heathme. Global warming is a total reality. Whether we can stop it from leading to worldwide catastrophe is the only debatable question.

Would like me to post links to hundreds of articles and scientific papers that disagree? Or maybe some videos showing a totally navigable Arctic polar cap or melting iceberga in the Antarctic. They're readily available:

Here's the website of a scientist who has actually been studying climate change his entire professional career. I posted it before but Heathme obviously didn't check it out:
