"In the Heat of the Night" classic line! "You got a name, boy?" Rod Stiger saying that to Sidney Poitier also known as "Virgil Tibbs!"
It's a human need to be understood. You are one of the posters that make this place welcoming. My intent is to defend you and who you are tbo. This is true and it is wrong if me and I have done enough (too much probably) to make my point and will step back and just try to observe, learn, and make the best of this issue going forward.

I appreciate that man, thanksIt's a human need to be understood. You are one of the posters that make this place welcoming. My intent is to defend you and who you are tbo.
I think the difference between the expectations and beliefs about places like LA and NY vs. somewhere like SLC is relevant. If someone makes a racial comment in LA or NY, is it easier to think “wow, there are racists here,” as opposed to hearing it in Utah and thinking “wow, they are racists here”? I think the difference is quite subtle, yet very important.Yup, that's why Jazz fans have to be particularly careful at games. If fans are yelling at players walking through the tunnel at Staples Center, no one will bat an eye. If they see it happening at Vivint, I guarantee people will assume there are racial slurs being thrown out.
Paranoid idea.My question in all of this: How many fans are gonna get lifetime bans when a particularly sensitive player points security at an annoying fan for being "mean" (without any evidence, or any actual racism/hate)? Is this gonna be exploited during playoff games to silence the crowd? Or is that just a paranoid idea?

Is that really a classic line, or are you just reminding everyone what your worldview is?"In the Heat of the Night" classic line! "You got a name, boy?" Rod Stiger saying that to Sidney Poitier also known as "Virgil Tibbs!"

No, I'm saying if a fan now says, you suck to an opposing player and security hears will they get removed from the game or banned too?
Nope. If you ignore them it's racist.I don’t know what is and isn’t racist anymore. This whole thing has been crazy. I guess just don’t talk to them is the safe thing to do.
Until the Jazz have onpenly gay players on the roster, homophobic slurs will slide. Gail talked about how racial remarks like what happened on Monday night also affect our players. She wanted to protect them so they will be respected in our community.
I don't think that she'll open the can of worms that is homophobic slurs until she has to cross that bridge.
In the context of this thread.....it's a classic line! In the movie, Tibbs wasn't offended by the expression and just went about the business of proving he was just an ordinary man with police know how to solve homicides that Stiger did not have! Maybe not a classic line...but certainly a classic movie! Is that really a classic line, or are you just reminding everyone what your worldview is?
Yeah I tend to agree here. To many whites “boy” is just “boy”.
But when someone takes even 5 seconds, or none in many cases, to think about it the clear historical racism attached to “boy” is undeniable. Might as well call him “monkey”.
Glad that dude got banned. To me he clearly knew nd was doing it intentionally.
