Why do you need a list? Be kind to people and treat any human with respect. Why is this such a hard concept for people to understand? It is just not in Utah. Racism is an invention of mankind. All races can be racists, in America since white people have had the power and ability to institutionalize racism in the laws and culture they share a heavier responsibility addressing the culture of racism. Pretending like it doesn't exist or that blacks need to just get over it is not understanding our real history. Not understanding how the word boy has different meanings for a white person than a black person demonstrates how far we as a society still have to go. Any white person who doesn't understand this is either ignorant or lying to themselves.

It is pretty simple, be kind to people, cheer for your team and be respect to your opponent. No list is needed if you do this.

We certainly have our issues but racism is a human problem not an American problem. The human race could end if we don't work together to resolve many of the problems facing mankind but that is hard to do when we let pettiness enter the conversation. So instead of dealing with these issues we degrade others who are not like us. Thus your prediction could actually come true but not just for America but for mankind. Unfortunately the blame game might be the downfall of society.

Saying boy to me is demeaning considering I am a 50 plus year old MAN. Considering the racist meaning it has carried for black people in this country I am not surprised that Westbrook reacted this way.
 
I dont get why anyone talks crap to players anyways. I have never felt the need to yell anything at them. I do feel like its disrespectful. I dont get the dehumanizing the players. Maybe some minor stuff like you suck is fine. Or something harmlessly funny. I think you have issues or something and need to get a life if you get off by getting into it with the players. Its weird and embarrassing. You are embarrassing us all.

Having said all that. I fall on the other side of things when it comes to social justice.

I get why Gail did what she did in a way, but on the other hand it was kind of disrespectful to all the people who didnt do anything wrong. There was no need to lecture the entire arena. It made us all look racist.

I cant stand this hypersensitive culture and PC policing. That **** is just super weird too. To me it doesnt line up logically in a lot of cases. How does fighting racism make any sense by being racist and painting white people as racist. How does it make any sense to say that only white people can be racist? White people can be trashed and generalized all day. Im sitting here baffled, thinking wtf did I do? I just was zapped into this world with a history that I had nothing to do with. I try to be respectful to all human beings. But because of history I should just be cuck and walk around with white guilt? No ****ing thanks. Alot of other people feel the same way too, and pushing these ideas constantly is only making things worse imo.

All bad behavior should be condemned regardless of color or creed, and each case should be looked at as an isolated incident. Trying to fix history by stepping on innocent people is a horrible idea.

It's amazing how many people think or even want this country to be racist that they attempt to manufacturer it at times :/ How many people are true racists in this country? 1% maybe lower? I can bet none of them follow sports closely anyway.

I didn't say I need a list. I said a list would be interesting.

As for the rest of your post, I can be acting very very nice and still have someone else offended by what I said if I said a word that I didn't know was wrong.

An example I gave earlier was when stoked told a story about how a black man saw racism in stoked body language and confronted him about it. Stoked had literally no idea that the way he was standing/moving was projecting racism at the man. How do you avoid that?

A guy at my work mentioned how he would like fried chicken for a potluck/company party and there was a black man present. It got awkward. If the black man was easily offended and was looking for something that wasn't there he could have easily made into a big race thing since fried chicken is a stereotype for black people. Those are just a couple of scenarios/examples. There are more.

I didn't think of it as a lecturing of the arena as she made it known that it's clearly only a minority of the fans who are engaging in racist behaviours. It was more of a rallying of the fanbase to stand up against behaviours like that if they see it happening and a message to the rest of the league that the average Jazz fan is a respectful and passionate fan who doesn't tolerate racist behaviours and believes in treating everyone with respect.

So hopefully the next time some dumbass minority fan decides it's ok to be racist towards visiting players other fans in the arena will tell the minority fan to STFU instead of standing around watching.

Just curious, those claiming to have NOT KNOWN that using the word, “boy” as a white person to a black person wasn’t racist, could you please:

A. Tell me where you’re from (city and state). Just curious because I wonder how many urban areas in Utah are ignorant of this? Or if it’s isolated to the rural areas where the population is homogeneous?
B. Tell me what books you’ve read about slavery and social justice.

Because, I’ll be honest, I didn’t think it was possible to live in America in 2019 and not know that calling a black person a “boy” was racist. The connection of whites demeaning blacks as “boys” has a long and extensive history going from slavery to Jim Crow to even President Obama. I can’t remember who it was but early in his career a white congressman referee to Obama as “boy” and it caused outrage among the African American community.

For those looking for some good reads:

* 12 Years a Slave (incredible nonfiction story. Far better than the movie and the movie was outstanding)
* To Kill a Mockingbird (classic)
* Black Like Me (written in the 1950s by a white journalist who made his skin dark and experienced life in the Deep South as a black man)
* White Rage (gives you a completely different perspective on Kaepernick and BLM)
* The New Jim Crow (change your views on the war on drugs)
* Just Mercy (my favorite, change your views on capital punishment)
 
I like Thriller's reading list. I would also add "Between the World and Me" by Ta-Nahisi Coates. I have tried to include a lot more POC authors in my reading, and while I will never understand what it is like to be black or a minority in this country, at least I am trying to be aware.

If people think that Gail Miller painted all (white) fans in the arena as racists, then you’ve got major issues. Seek medical attention. Like seriously

That’s a personal problem. Read a damn book or take a social studies course. But whining about culture being too sensitive because you’re ignorant isn’t the right answer.
