I'm just going to choose to hope that this disappointing season will give Lindsey the nuts to finally make a god damn move because anyone that's been serious and not had their head up their asses have known that the composition of this roster has been fatally flawed for two seasons.

If you let Neto, Rubio, and all the FAs go, you're sitting at about $90M with Favors. Cap is something like $109M. You could free up a like $4M more by waiving Korver.

While it would be great to get Kemba, I'm going to go with a more realistic off-season targets approach. I've always been against playing DM at the point, but, with the PG's that are available this off-season, I think putting DM at point and getting someone else to play shooting guard is a better route at this time. So, I would sign Terrance Ross to be the shooting guard with DM at the point. Then, if possible, and I don't know if it is since I'm terrible with the salary cap, sign Tobias Harris to be the starting stretch forward, re-sign Favors to be the backup center/power forward. I would play Crowder as the backup stretch forward and also backup shooting forward.
Does this make us a championship contender? Probably not, but, not a fan of the possible free agents that the Jazz could possibly get this year. So, here is my lineup:

Ross/Royce
Ingles/Crowder/Royce
Harris/Crowder/Favors

No, we definitely do not have enough cap space to get both Harris and Ross even if we waive Favors. If we keep Favors then we dont have enough room for Harris alone.

Right after they "talked" Jeff Bzdelik out of retirement.

Houston swears up and down it had nothing to do with Carmelo leaving; but the coincidence is just a bit too much.

I have it at about $85M in that scenario... with capholds etc. We could actually free up about 6.5M if we waived and stretched Korver.

So you could potentially get Niko and Beverly... I think Pat gets around MLE and Niko gets 15-20M depending on what happens rest of the playoffs.

Niko's value has likely taken a solid hit this year. I'd rather have Niko at 4/60-80 than burn assets to get Kevin Love on his terrible deal (I still think this is not happening). I doubt Niko is looking to stay in Milwaukee and they have bigger fish to fry.

I think we can get a pretty approximate gauge on how DL values Niko (not much) but don't have an adequate gauge on how he values Love (and it would be fairly dynamic depending on how desperate things get [I anticipate they'll get desperate]), but I think we pony up a first and second for him, and probably Favors and Exum.

If Korver retires, we can have around $40 million in cap space. If we waive Korver, we'd have around $36. Now this number is without Rubio, Favors, Thabo, Neto and Udoh. The most realistic option for us in the summer is maximizing the money we have while we keep Favors. He's set to make around $17 if we pick up his team option. So if Korver retires and we keep Favors, I think we do the best we can with around $23 million.

We discussed it on this thread or another, but Jeremy Lamb should be a target if we miss out on Tobias, Kemba, etc. If Donovan can transition part time to PG, Exum can play some minutes and Grayson there as well, we could use a good all purpose wing like Lamb.

Just quickly looked at this. If they officially retire and jump on this voluntary retired list then it is gone. They might agree to a buyout too, which would allow them to sign with another team within a year if they changed their mind.

If I had to guess... I think he is back and the Jazz aren't the types to force a guy like Kyle out.

tl;dr if DL thought Niko could really help us enough moving forward, he would have traded for him previously. Since I'm assuming that's the perspective DL is coming from, the fact that, in addition to him not believing he's that valuable to us, that he can't even win the press conference with that move, makes me think DL would rather toss out a draft asset for Love than bring in Niko. He could prove me wrong but I'm just not seeing it.

True... I think he could have had Love for a pick to last trade deadline. I think the first time he passed it was a misevaluation of what we thought we could get him for and driving a tough deal. I think we thought they'd end up settling for a second.

I don't think he feels the hot seat at all... I don't think he needs to win the press conference. I think Gail has made his job status very safe. Love would be such a panic move.

I don't think the logic is bad here... I just think the press conference win is not really a factor... Our local media doesn't challenge him that hard and Gail gonna ride with DL... Having a Love deal potentially blow up in his face would more damaging than just whiffing in FA imo.

If he gets a Conley deal done that is a win the press conference and good basketball deal. I still think that will be his best option when the dust settles.

They may not like Niko, but I don't know how you can give up that much for Love and not like Niko.
