What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

If Exum was the holdup, I would think about firing Lindsey right ****ing now.

If they can tuck him into any deal that nets a player, they have to.

Wasn't Conley expiring? Even if he wasn't, and you took on his contract, then good bye any kind of major FA until he's gone.

Not worth a dude in his 30's and injury prone. We now have options. If we signed Conley it would have ****ed us in the ball sack.

Well, the only reason we didn’t do it is because Memphis said no. DL was so willing to do it that he let the trade dangle out there in the public sphere for two weeks. And Conley is under contract for two more years. But what’s important is that you read the writing on the wall. We’d all agree that DL has his ear to the ground regarding this free agency much more than any of us or any pundits. And what does it appear DL is doing about his confidence, or lack thereof, regarding this free agency? He’s looking to cash in the possibility of landing someone in exchange for an over 30 Mike Conley. That should say enough.

Conley wasn't expiring.

The narrative that the Jazz haven't signed any major free agents (at the time of their signing) is a correct one, being wary of that route - as much as it irks me - is responsible. Furthermore, are you saying the Jazz should let some of it's perfect, precious little angels go? Because that's the only way they're signing a player at a salary figure anywhere close to Conley's number.

At any rate, my comment was more about Exum and Lindsey's possible obsession with him than it was Conley.

I gotcha. I like your take.

We keep Rudy, Favors, Mitchell, Rubio, Ingles, Korver and Crowder. These guys play very well together as was shown the last 20 games of the season. Rudy, Favors and Mitchell will continue to improve as they are all "coachable" and the other 4 guys are seasoned vets who will sacrifice themselves for the sake of the team. So the question is how much cap space do we have to work with, and what can we get for the rest of the guys on our roster? We need SHOOTERS! Guys that are willing to play some defense and can SHOOT! We don't need wholesale changes to improve this team and move to the next level. So, who's out there that the Jazz can get to fit that bill?

The “cap space” you’re working with in that scenario is the mid-level exception.

I want to keep Favors, Gobert, and Mitchell. Everybody else is on the table. To get something good, you have to give something good.

Exum has little value currently so doubtful we can move him. Ingles, Royce, Crowder, Niang and Allen all have some worth. I’m ready to move on from Neto and Rubio. They both spent all season on and off the injured list. Udoh is nice to have as a 3rd center. But his salary isn’t justified for his minutes played. Bradley should be waived. I’d just as soon trade the draft pick for this year. We don’t have the minutes to develop young players.

Jazz have to find a competent point or 2 guard to take pressure of Mitchell. Hate how many draft picks we’ve squandered on points with nothing to show for it. Don’t think we have enough valuable assets to bundle for what we need.
