What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Sign Kemba, trade for Griffin!

Never mind that would be hard to do. We would have to waive everyone including favors to sign Kemba. So we would have to trade a bunch of players to match Griffin's salary. It would take Exum, Ingles, Korver, and Crowder to get that done. Which I would be okay with if we could keep Ingles somehow. Although maybe I am still okay with it...

Kemba
Mitchell
Royce
Griffin
Gobert

That is a mean lineup but not a lot of depth behind them. But we could fill it out with some good pickups using MLE.
What’s dream land like?
I talked with someone tonight who knows DL personally. Like, he was part of the staff. And he said unequivocally, that DL is a complete *******. Rude to his wife. Rude to the staff. Just a dick. And supposedly, all the local media know some horror stories, but obviously they don't report on it in order to keep the doors open for access.

I've always been a believer in DL. But now, I'm not so sure. Sad.

Was he fired or did he leave on his own terms?
He's worth a flyer imo but some people are talking about him as the prize jewel of free agency it seems like.
He’s really not. He’s no better than Rubio if not worse than him.

I am consigned to the fact we are keeping Favors. So that limits our options quite a bit. We need to get a starter quality guard. I think we might be able to get Jeremy Lamb for 12-15 MM. He isn't really a play maker but I can't think of better player that we have enough capspace for.

I am fine with keeping Favors if we strike out. It is deeply concerning though we are trying to and/or planning on keeping Favors. This offseason can only be a major success if we move on from Favors. Just not really any way to have any money or do any significant trades without doing so. Favors needs to be a fallback option.

I was feeling really optimistic about the offseason, but no longer am after reading that Tony Jones article on the Athletic. It feels like this summer is going to end up being what last summer should have been. Some minor moves at the margins. The upcoming trade deadline is pretty much our last gasp for making a major move that keeps Donny and Rudy around.

We **** away some pretty great opportunities with Mirotic and Conley at the last two deadlines.

Very quickly losing confidence in management....

Unless it happened at Best Buy this is completely garbage.

I don't mind Rozier talk on a 1 + 1 or something as like option P but he shouldn't be a primary target.

That is the issue though... he’s restricted and to get him you need to make the offer so bad that Boston passes. So you won’t get him cheap or on a team friendly deal.

I don’t really like Rozier, but this isn’t true.

Rubio has had a better shooting percentage the last 3 years.

When you take a deeper dive into the numbers you could possibly argue one over the other - but at the end of the day you're talking about 2 varying degrees of terrible.

It's like saying a prostate exam is more pleasant than a colonoscopy.

Teams leave Rubio wide open for average shooting. Teams don't leave Rozier wide open. Yet Rozier shoots similarly to Rubio who teams leave wide freaking open.

In all fairness I didn't watch Rozier a lot when he started in place of an injured Kyrie; but I watched a lot of Celtic basketball this past season and he does not impress me. Forces a lot of shots, low basketball IQ, bad shooting takes him out of his defense - just a net negative player.

Rubio sucks as a shooter but at least he knows he sucks.
