What's new

Gail Miller rewards Jazz executives that do a bad job. Your input.

So your entire hate stems from moves that didn't happen. You do realize that there have to be 2 parties or more interested? Most of those moves that didn't happen that you named wouldn't have helped. Jabari? No thanks. Otto Porter is seriously overpaid now. Conley? I wish it had happened but at the time agreed with him be too expensive, and they were not winning a title this year with him anyway. Niko? Most over rated player on this board, he's okay but not the savior some seem to think.

If nothing happens this off season I'll be pissed, but I'm okay with the stuff that has happened so far.

Are you ok with the standing pat ?

The re-signing of Bustum ? That was his doing . How do you feel about that ?

Overpayment on the Burks trade ?

Yes I was okay with standing pat, that roster had a historic run.
I thought they overpaid a little on Exum and feel if he was healthy he was worth it, it doesn't look good now.
They didn't over pay on the Burks trade, Korver made the team better than Burks did.

I agree 100%

Again you have a foolish comment for facts. Are you 5 or something?

Ok so have you forgotten the Conley deal and not throwing in the bust poster child ?

Letting Niko go to another team for nearly nothing?

How about him not trying for Jabari?

Better yet not trying to grab Otto ?

Selling us excuses, guys nobody wanted to come here in free agency? No great trades were available? I'm too conservative, I suck in drafts I got lucky with Donovan but I re-signed a bust. I paid too much for a senior citizen who will retire this year.

He was a crappy GM. Just face it. Sadly I hope this new gm helps us evolve to take the next step since DL and KOC were a joke. Gail doesn't seem to know what's going on, if Larry was here (God rest his soul) things would be way different.

Nikko went for Stanley Johnson, filler salary, and 4 2nd round picks for 1/2 season rental. That is not not nearly nothing that is a huge overpay and great job DL for not even trying to match that.

Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis were traded for Otto Porter. We could not have got either side of that deal. So stop being silly and pretending we could have easily got either player in that.

Conley would be nice but he is old and has a huge long salary. Its not just Exum, its the fact that they were asking for way too much. Good job DL for not doing that. There are better options coming up.

If DL cant do anything this summer in trades and FA then we can say he is doing a bad job. But a lot of what he has set up is for this off-season which is one of the best FA classes. Not many teams set themselves up for it like he did.

There is a good reason we ran our team back. We played very well last season together and had a good run into the 2nd round where we were very injured. This year we simply missed easy open shots in a series against one of the top teams in the NBA. That has nothing to do with DL. We had the worst shooting percentages on open shots in the NBA despite getting the most open shots in the NBA. If we had shot anywhere close to our regular season average we easily win games 3 and 5.

Exum's deal was fine. You cant predict injuries like that. Its also too soon to call him a bust, he is 23. He can get healthy again just fine.

Many people thought we would have to give up a 1st to dump Burks who many thought was a bad deal for the same reason as Exum. Burks could not stay healthy for awhile. But he has gotten healthy but could not get playing time for any of the other teams that have had him. We got a very good shooter that we really needed. We got better when we got Korver and we got a rotational player. Burks was just end of the bench guy for us. Giving up a couple late 2nd round picks to upgrade a player who is out of the rotation to a contributing player is worth it. Unfortunately Korver got hurt going into the playoffs. It was bad timing.

We overpayed for Korver he helped in the regular season but not in the playoffs. Burks would have helped us more against Houston creating offense.

Exum sucks he is a bust injuries aside he has underachieved. He can't shoot he turns over the ball but he has a decent defensive game, we could have used the money on someone better.

If you own a business you reward people who make you money. In this case it's keeping the seats full and selling merchandise. Sure it'd be great to win a chip, or even advance further in the playoffs, but small market teams can't weather financial losses that can be a result of risky moves. Gail sees a profit and the fans see a competitive team. That's a win for ownership.

Korver got hurt right before the playoffs, that is why he was not much help, those happen to all players. Burks would not have got playing time unless it was a blowout. Burks cant get playing time on garbage time for bad teams right now.

The bad reason to stand pat is everyone got better, we didn't. Nor did we improve our weaknesses. A soft argument is that Conley is old, do you realize he is better than Rubio and Bustum combined? He creates regardless of his age? We don't over pay but when we do nothing we get owned that's the conservative do nothing approach I'm talking about.

Not trading for Hayward...

Your opinion has zero credibility when you show your ignorance.

Nothing to see here.

Korver didn't help against Houston, Burks would have. So I'm neutral but that pick we gave was too much

Conley is better but it would have been a huge overpay for him. Conley minus a few of our players is not winning a championship this last year. So why not wait until this off season to get a better player like Walker or trade for Conley now when it will cost less. Statistically we were better as a team this season despite Rubio taking a step back. We had a better regular season despite the slow start from Mitchell who was still getting over injuries. In the playoffs we pushed the Rockets harder than last year despite have historically bad shooting. There are plenty of reasons to think we would have taken a bigger jump but we didnt. That was a reasonable gamble by DL that cost us nothing.

There is no move that would have pushed us over the edge for this season. So why gamble our future away to try and chase that? Stand pat hope for the internal improvement and keep our roster flexible and cap space flexible for one of the best FA off seasons in a long time. There is no reason to be impatient like you want. If DL strikes out in FA this year and/or in trades this year than shame on him.

It doesn’t look like promotions to me. Someone else mentioned it, but this could even weirdly be an acting-demotion for Lindsey. I don’t actually think it is, but I don’t think he has any more power than he did before.

Do you think Gobert is watching closely our next steps ? He won't want to stay if we don't improve, same with Donovan. So it's not an inpatient approach.. it's the proper one.

He was Injured, Burks wouldn't have played. Literally Grayson Allen would have gotten minutes instead of Burks.

Burks could create his own offense we desperately needed that in Houston. His o game is more polished than Grayson, so no that wouldn't be the case.

People acting like Hood is suddenly some great player. No!

Not trading Hayward in 2016 was foolish. For that DL can redeem himself this off season.

Yes, they are watching. They are also patient for the right move, not a rushed band aid move. They also really liked the team and wanted to keep everyone around them last off season. Now Mitchell sounds more ready to bring in someone, so we are more likely to do that.

We needed someone to hit a wide open shot. That is not Burks. The Rockets were shutting down the paint, Burks would have been worthless.

They reward continuity, loyalty, and strong fiscal results. It's a business first, a legacy second, a passion project 5th or 6th. The franchises that take the risks are passion projects 1st, with owners fully dedicated to winning. Cuban is a good example. So this is fully in keeping with the values of the franchise. Slow and steady maintain the bottom line and put butts in the seats. I don't believe any of them really care about rings, not since Larry died.

Do you remember last year against okc and game 2 against the Rockets. I beg to differ. We had no slashers or anyone that could create that's Burks whether you acknowledge it or not buddy
