Following Potential Draftees - 2019 (not kidding)

Combine highlights with Darius Bazley -- #14 with the green shoes. I think if he played college ball this year, he'd be getting drafted along with Nassir Little and Romeo Langford, if not a couple spots higher. He's a prototypical NBA athlete, in the same long, lean cheetah mold as guys like TMac, Grant Hill and Scottie Pippen. Whether he ever becomes anywhere near as good as those guys (hof), who knows, but he has some of that natural ability. He's quick with the ball, runs the floor well, reacts well on defense and can get his shot off anytime he wants. We need those things in our front court, quite badly.

Picture this guy on the floor with Exum, Mitchell, Gobert and Royce. We'd have good length, athleticism and versatility at every position.

** The dunk on the first play is off of one foot. He tested with a 37" max vertical.

** The hanging scoop layup on the second play he made with his off hand. (He's left handed.) Also off of one foot.

** Nice find at 0:21.

** The guy he runs with from above the FT line and blocks at the rim at 0:26 is Jordan Bone from Tennessee, the fastest player at the Combine.

** The baseline move that he finishes with the reverse lay-in at 0:35 is again with his off-hand.

** Another quick-reaction block while back-pedaling at 0:38.

** Nails a 26' 3-ball over Grant Williams. Nice balance, high release and good arc on the shot.

** Isolates above the 3-pt line and hits floater at 0:42, again with his off hand, draws and-1.

Remember, he's still 18 for another month. He's still early in his development curve.

What makes Jalen Lecque a hot prospect? Is it mostly the athleticism? I looked him up and he was only the 41st ranked high school prospect and a 4-star recruit. With some of the buzz he's getting I assumed he was a top 10 HS prospect.

He's young and his size/athleticism are in the same neighborhood as John Wall at the same age. He's not quite as fast end to end as Wall, but he's a bit bouncier.

Thanks for posting all this. I like Williams though I’m not sure his game will transfer well to the NBA without a better outside shot.

He really is a PJ Tucker type--a guy who will sit in the corner and either shoot or attack close-outs. He'll bang a bit on defense, but he doesn't really have the size to check 5s. I also don' think much of his college post-up game will translate unless he has a mis-match.

I don't think he's a first-round prospect, honestly. I'd take Okeke and PJ Washington ahead of him.

Thanks for the vids.

Solidifying my want for a Lecque/Bazley type, swing for the fences.

Mitchell + Bazley + Gobert would be really nice together, imo. Who knows, maybe Exum will eventually show up. Now I'm worried that Bazley won't be on the board at #23.

That 3pt shot was hideous

Am I missing something or is Bol Bol being down 30 pounds a positive not a negative like people are saying? Obviously you aren't going to want him playing at 209 pounds. But the guy is huge and he's coming off of a stress fracture in his foot. If I was a team interested in picking him I wouldn't want him carrying that extra weight right now. I wouldn't be worried about what he gave my team next season. I'd be more concerned with his long-term health, and in that sense not carrying the extra weight right now is good.

I was thinking about this earlier. I think it's better he's slimmer as he's dealing with the injury. Some article I read made it sound bad and stated he needs to weigh more as to not get pushed around.

Yeah, article - but he's rehabbing an injury. And if he weighed 20 pounds more he can get there again. It would be interesting if he was there at 23. The dude can play. I see him as a rich man's Thon Maker.
