News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

So, you’d turn your back on a player that is as good as any player we can get, who fits in perfectly with this team...

To save face? To be cool?

Nah. No thanks.
Guess you havent watched the NBA the last two years. I think we can find a player better than 11 ppg on 46% shooting. Also he does not fit perfectly anymore on our team. If he was cheaper he would be a decent backup to Mitchell, Ingles, and Royce. It would be a risk though that he gets better next year but who knows if he does.

Not sure why this made me laugh so hard, but now my boss is staring at me and wondering why I'm on my phone in the meeting and I'm trying to sell him on the work slides being on my phone. he's not buying it.
lol been in similar situations due to some of the comments around here.

But honestly, that was funny. I have made more mistakes about the new cba in the last month than I have in the last ten years.

Knew you could handle a good natured joke.

Harrison Barnes wtf

Some guys taking some big risks ...

Nah man... he was smart. He might get like 5M less this year but will lock in another 80M+ in a market flush with cash.

I would add him for the right price for sure as a small ball four he’s worth $20M.

Always secure the bag when you are healthy... if you know the Kings like you definitely open up those negotiations... just see where it goes ya know. They have like a billion dollars in cap space... maybe he gets 4/100M... maybe those dumb bastards give him 5 years.

I think he has something worked out with the Kings. Tells you how confident the Kings are in free agency, though.

Couldn’t he have opted in then negotiated an extension though... I think he might want to see what’s out there.

He could have, but wouldn't the extension have to escalate from his current salary number? Not sure the Kings, or anyone, are going to pay that. At this rate, he gets a long term contract, the Kings get his salary more in line with his worth. I'll bet it is front loaded to help them when their youngsters come off of their rookie contracts, and makes him a valuable trade chip with the declining salary.

He could decline salary... extension has to be within 20% I believe... so could have done 20-22M... at very least I know they could have it decline by 8% annually. I would think they would have just said opt in and we will extend you and do another 3 years at 60M... rather than him opting out. His cap hold is more than the salary so it’s better for the just to have him on the books.

The Lakers should trade for Paul -- they could simply use draft picks. They have the money to absorb the cap and I think Paul would gladly play facilitator to LBJ and AD. Just my thought. I don't know their draft pick situation.
I think they traded all teh draft picks for AD

That's what KLove gets. There are consequences for signing that absurd contract. He might have to spend the rest of his career in NBA purgatory.

I get the feeling he’s cool with it. Like I don’t see him demanding to be traded to a contender.

It's kinda nice to see that you might be exhausting yourself like you're exhausting the rest of us. #solidarity

But he also might realizing anew just how limited his options are. He might have thought that the Cavs could've beat expectations last year, and that he'd be able to move to a playoff-level team at some point of this contract. Dunno. But my money is on the fact that he's become more resigned to his situation AFTER signing the contract.
