I think he has something worked out with the Kings. Tells you how confident the Kings are in free agency, though.

****. I’m not big on Barnes, but... could be a good fit.Wow. Harrison Barnes declining his $25.1 million player option and becoming an unrestricted free agent.

Couldn’t he have opted in then negotiated an extension though... I think he might want to see what’s out there.
He could have, but wouldn't the extension have to escalate from his current salary number? Not sure the Kings, or anyone, are going to pay that. At this rate, he gets a long term contract, the Kings get his salary more in line with his worth. I'll bet it is front loaded to help them when their youngsters come off of their rookie contracts, and makes him a valuable trade chip with the declining salary.
I think they traded all teh draft picks for ADThe Lakers should trade for Paul -- they could simply use draft picks. They have the money to absorb the cap and I think Paul would gladly play facilitator to LBJ and AD. Just my thought. I don't know their draft pick situation.
I think Lakers or any team would receive picks to take on that contract. But there is no way the Lakers can clear space to absorb his contract. 38 Million is way outside their ability to bring in.
I think the article linked to the Chris Paul tweet should be required reading. @Stoked would love it.
