Conley Officially a Jazzman

Conley makes the team better. It's possible we could win a title with this roster if Donovan, Exum, Royce, and Gobert reach higher levels and everybody else maintains productivity. Just hope and pray we stay healthy because our depth will be lacking.

I've been waiting 20 years for the Jazz to return to being title contenders. This trade nearly gets us there.

Now if we can somehow use the salaries of Exum and Favors to get us one more piece...

Those picks are over rated. AD is 26 year old superstar you can build around....same way pelicans did....i know...lol

But the lakers will always be a draw for a fa market. They literally dont need to draft ****.
How did similar move worked for Nets? It crippled them for years without having picks in the drafts and they did not win or even came close to winning a championship. Lebron is aging. They have literally three NBA players now on their roster. Good luck building a competing team with that.

How did that work against Houston in playoffs?
Great actually. Jazz missed open shots. Conley should be able to make some. More than Rubio at least

He'll be 32 years old when the season starts. And ugh, I guess I'm going to have to go through and list glaring examples of this happening...I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this.

I get what you're saying, but it won't matter for the reason's I've stated. Crowder was an FA next year, Korver was going to decline faster than me with a six pack, and Allen wasn't sure fire (though I was kind of high on him still). Late firsts don't matter much.

Look at it like this. The situation with Golden State losing KD and Klay next year opens a window for contention that Jazz HAD to take advantage of. Conley addresses issues we've had long standing (for now) and we're not even into FA yet. There are still chances to get better. If Utah can get a 'chip? You have to try and go with what the tides give you.

We mostly sucked against Houstons defense. We could not generate any good looks for most of the games. There was a reason all our shooters shot poorly because most of the shots were either well contested and we were forced to shoot in last seconds of 24 sec shot clock. We played better with Favors at 5 then with Rudy, how difficult is to see that?

On top of what the Jazz traded reported in the deal, they also traded whatever player they could have aquired through free agency.

So the trade is actually more like this

Jae
Korver
Allen
23rd pick
A future first
1,2, maybe 3 different free agents. Possibly
1 really good free agent.

For

A 32 year old non allstar making 32 million a year.

Thats what we really traded.

It was steep price to pay. An overpay for sure. Cant believe how bad the Jazz are at negotiating.

Does is make us better? Yes.
Does it win us a championship? Probably Not

We paid a huge price to take a small tick upwards.

I will say this. At least I dont have to watch Korver and Jae chuck threes anymore. So that's a win for us, and it means more Royce O'Neal. But you dont have to make trades to make those things happen.

I think how successful this trade will be is going to be determined by what we do or don’t do with Favors and Exum. Have you ever been given a prescription for an opioid, but the reason it has been prescribed is now resolved? Now, you’re a reasonable person, and you aren’t foolish enough to do that recreationally, and you know it’d be bad to take them “just because,” but now you’re walking around looking for a reason or excuse to take it? That’s pretty much where DL, the FO, and a contingent of Jazz fans seem to be regarding Favors and Exum — looking for a reason, against their better judgment, to keep them.
I will take them off your hands

Exum might cling mightily to #11 because that's the number of games he's played on average each year. It's a special number to him. It also is the number that looks like his legs, spindly and stick-like.
Also his career high probably

We struggled against Houston because we only had one guy who could create for himself. Conley doubles that number. It's going to make a huge difference. And you're just wrong about not getting open looks, they were there but Ricky and Joe weren't knocking them down.
