Tobias Harris wants to come to utah

No offense, but I don't agree.

Harris is a good player, one I want, but he's not on the same level as Conley. Conley legitimately doesn't have a weakness. He's above average in every facet of the game for a PG. It's a position that we desperately needed an upgrade at, especially in regards of shooting. Plus it allows Mitchell to take his time developing as a lead guard. Come playoff time having a PG who can run an offense in any situation is way more important than Harris without a PG on Conley's level.
I said literally impossible to know because it is literally impossible to know. That's not my opinion, it's a fact.
If we could play next season with Conley then go back in a time machine and play the season again with Harris then we might know.
But that would be the only way

It's impossible to know if LeBron would have made the Jazz better than Harris. We can't truly tell because neither one of them are on the team.

Unless we had an alternate reality we could view, there's no way of knowing.

It is almost unbelievable that the Jazz are paying ~$27 million to two guys that can’t shoot the three, and are either perpetually injured or on permanent minutes restriction. The only thing more unbelievable than that is that these players have loyalists.

The Jazz need to waive Favors, and if there’s a way to let someone else take the reigns with the Dante Exum experiment that doesn’t cost a heavy amount of assets, the Jazz need to do that, too.

If they do that, they can make a reasonable pitch to Harris. If he doesn’t sign then; oh no, the Jazz are already dark horse contenders in what is likely to be a wide-open field and would have nearly $30 million to go shopping.

I agree with this. If we miss out on Harris we can get Portis and someone else in the 10-14M range.

Then you can say he can take a one year deal then we can max him next year... K, but he has to give up a **** ton of security to do so... injury risk is crazy to pass up like $100m.

If the Jazz sign him to a one year deal they won't have his Bird rights. They will almost certainly be over the cap next year, so they would not at all be able to max him.

Why the urgency to waive Favors? Jazz don't have to opt in until Jan 6th, IINM. Most free agents will have made their decisions in the first few days of free agency. That gives the plenty of time to talk to every free agent they have on Plans A-Z. And then clear dollars, if needed, by July 6th when new contracts can be officially submitted. If the Jazz strike out, Favors is a great piece to have, 1) as a player and 2) as an expiring contract at the deadline.

I'm frustrated, too, by Exum's injuries. But I don't think you can dump him without giving up an asset. Do you want the Jazz to burn another pick without knowing if they can get someone else who really moves the needle in free agency? Either Dante requires asset(s) to dump (if he never heals), or he comes back and contributes to the team or becomes at least a trade chip bringing a pick our way.

Top free agent (like Harris) wants to sign with Utah? Yes, you get an agreement on July 1st or 2nd and then start making the moves to clear cap. A few very good FA's want to sign? Evaluate against losing Favs and make those moves by July 5th.

I think you get non-bird rights and can sign them to either like 125% or 150% of the previous salary but can’t exceed the max.

Favors couldn't play with Gobert and Rubio bc 3/5 of our lineup couldn't shoot. Conley changes that, by a lot.

Obviously Harris fits better. I hope we can get him. I think it's pretty unrealistic, but it would be great if we could.

But anyways, Conley positively impacts everybody on the court. As much as I like Harris, he doesn't have the same impact, especially on defense.

Let's not over do it. When Conley gets switched onto a taller player (nearly everyone!), they shoot over him uncontested. By RPM Conley is a -0.45 defender, Harris is in the positives (barely).

Ya I mean Conley went from being a dude no one really talked about 2 years ago to the perfect player with no weaknesses that's going to fix everything about the offense and get us a top 2 seed.

The koolaid does taste good though.

Thanks, I didn't realize a one year form of Bird rights existed. I looked it up, it's 120% of the previous salary.
So we sign him on a 1+1 for $28m/yr, then next year he gets $33.6M. As a perk, the Millers will allow him to open a car dealership.

If you're going to use a stat like this, please do it properly. DRPM scores always average much lower for PGs. Conley is (barely) in the upper half of PGs by this measure, while Tobias sits at about the lower 1/3 of PFs (which is where he should be categorized).

I share some concern that Conley isn't the defender he's often made out to be, but relatively speaking this stat shows he's better than Tobias. You know who's really good though (both absolutely and relatively?): Favors.

I’ve always considered myself a Favors loyalist, and even I know he needs to be gone.

Man, I’ll be happy if he can just get us off the 5th seed, then I can die a happy man.

Yeah sad but true. Right now is literally the worst time to trade Exum as his value can't possibly get any lower. All we can do at this point is hope he recovers.

All I've wanted for the LONGEST time is to have homecourt in the first round. Just be top-half of the bracket. Please. Pretty please. So many teams from the Dwill Boozer era until now have been SOOOOO close, yet not secured home court.

Just have home court wrapped up with 5 games to go in the regular season and then manage minutes, etc. going into the playoffs so we can wipe the floor with our first round opponent and go from there.

And the Jazz either won’t have or won’t need capspace next offseason. In other words, saving money for then won’t matter.

We can hope a rebuilding team with capspace is interested in developing Exum.
