What's new

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Okay so, LA and NOLA reworked the AD trade to include Washington. Why can't we do something similar with Memphis?

Maybe we could add in Favors for a 3rd team who sends something minor to Memphis. By doing that, maybe we could alter the protections on the Memphis picks, give us a chance to pick up value from a 3rd team, allow us to dump Bradley, etc.

What are the analytics they’re seeing on Exum, then? IIRC, he’s the worst analytics player ever.

Not all of them would say that. That is just PER which is not really a analytics or advanced stat at all. Also using analytics and evaluating a player is more than just what a stat says. They are projecting what they think he can be.

Here’s another wrinkle to Niko: if you sign him, Udoh can be your primary backup C. Dead serious.

If we sign Niko, I hope your heart doesn’t explode.

If I had to place a bet, I’d bet on us signing Niko. Maybe he doesn’t finish games (defense), but he fits pretty damn well.

So with Favors' camp preparing for him to be an UFA, it's possible the Jazz FO have informed him that they're likely not to pick up his option.

Honestly, if we are going to spend 14 to 17 million on a Favors replacement give me Bobby Portis. Washington is unlikely to match. Hell, Washington should s&t Portis for Favors.

I would gut the team to sign Tobias Harris. From the 4 spot the only player more skilled is KD (Lebron and Kawhi are 3's). I would also do it to "win the press conference". Sometimes you need to shatter the myth that max free agents wouldn't sign here. That would be a HUGE benefit in the future. Also, I think we can get 3 more good bench players with our exceptions - Room MLE, Exum injury exception, and the AB trade exception. I would also rely heavily on the developmental staff to rebuild our depth. And not only that it gives us 5 years (if Donovan and Rudy resign) of being in contention. We kind of build momentum for next year too, because it gives us a fantastic base.

Now that Washington just added $5 million in contracts (Wagner, Bonga, etc,) to their already bloated salaries, I doubt they match on anything substantial for Portis.
