What type of candidate can beat Trump?

Haven't had to use the ignore button for a while so this has been a nice change.

It’s been nearly impossible for me to follow this thread. So many people have been blocked. All I see are posts from One Brow, Fish, and Gameface per page. Lol. I can see things are getting testy too. I saw “*** garbage” used once. Lol

That list of podcasts is sure to be surprising to some people.

Many of my friends and family are conservative. I have conservative leanings. I respect actual conservatives. It’s the GOP that I despise. It’s Trumpers who I wish could be snapped out of existence. They truly have nothing to offer except for mindless authoritarianism.

But I thoroughly enjoy listening to conservatives. My favorite follows on twitter are Bill Kristol, Tom Nichols, Rick Wilson, and Jennifer Rubin. All are conservatives.

While I don’t agree with everything on the Bulwark, I think liberals and conservatives aren’t as far apart as the media portrays them to be. Liberals/Democrats aren’t the enemy that Fox News and republicans make them out to be. However, I honestly do think that Trump and the GOP is at least as bad if not worse than what they’re portrayed by the media as being. In fact, I think the media has let them off way too easy. Could you imagine Obama or Clinton getting away with just 1/1000000000th of the **** Trump gets away with daily?

If you want a good listen, listen to Rick Wilson on the Bulwark provide Dems/Pelosi with a game plan to Dump Trump. He also warns us of pitfalls that sadly we’re racing into.

By NOT focusing on Trump, we’ve forced the spotlight onto our own primaries. Since we have 10 million candidates, candidates are saying some pretty crazy things to get attention. As a result, the crazy is what’s being seen. Not the same. Not the good. And definitely not Trump.

This is a total failure on an epic scale by the DNC.

We should’ve started impeachment proceedings already. Taking down Agent Orange should’ve been our focus. And the primary should be on the backburner getting little attention. Let the candidates fight each other and then focus on them by the time the general comes along.

Instead, we’re focusing on busing, transsexual abortions, and Marianne’s “positive vibes” rather than Trump.

This election shouldn’t be about policy but on eliminating Agent orange. Besides, no democratic policy is going to be passed as long as the Grim Reaper is in charge of the senate. The focus should be on getting rid of Trump and maintaining the level headed moderate positions that won us the House in 2018.

I will say this, does it really matter that we retook the house? Honestly, does it? I haven’t seen Pelosi do much with it. We’re not holding Trump accountable at all. So in retrospect, I really don’t see a difference between a Ryan led House and Pelosi led House. Trump is still doing whatever the **** he wants.

Sound a like something a liberal hippy marxist would say

Well, I’m also a globalist. I believe in immigration. And I harbor no ill feelings towards Muslims or Jews. So I guess I’m a liberal hippy Marxist who enjoys AOCs tweets and a leftist globalist cuck that needs to be red pilled.

You’re a commie Marxist leftist normie I see.

Nailed it.

I really enjoy Bill Kristol as well. It’s hard to believe that he used to be a regular conservative on Fox News and now is seen almost as a “liberal pariah.” He really hasn’t changed much. I agree with most of his takes. But it’s almost like people like he and Sykes are in the minority these days by actually keeping their values and beliefs.

The one with Mark Salter was really good as I recall. But now I think I might be confusing it with the one with David Jolly. So listen to both?! Sorry!

I remember them talking about immigration and how in politics before both sides of the political spectrum had a wink and nod understanding on topics like immigration. So that’s what Salter talked about. So I’m pretty sure that’s the one you might really enjoy.

I forgot to mention, the one with Kim Wehel is really good too. I put a hold on her book at the library. She discusses things related to the Supreme Court, constitution, and rule of law. She definitely makes as case against Trump and his trampling or democratic norms.

Sorry I couldn’t be clearer. I listen to the Bulwark at least every other day and I recently deleted a bunch of past episodes and I’m struggling to recover them. If I knew how to use my iPhone better I’d probably be a better help.

I haven’t to lawfare. Going to have to try that one. I enjoy 538 too although I havent listened to them as much over the past 6-8 months. Probably should

I like Dave Jolly... even saw him in person. He and another guy whose name I'm blanking on did a forum at BYU about a year ago that I went to.

Neoconservatism is the most disastrous political movement in the last 50 years. It revitalized imperialism, gave us the second war on Iraq, promoted torture, lionized Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin. But I guess blind hatred of Trump is enough to embrace incompetent hacks and raging neocons like Bill Kristol and Jennifer Rubin.

I guess if you want to paint with a broad brush... and boil everything down to the worst and most extreme foreign policies.

I have no problem with a strong foreign policy. I actually do believe that a strong American presence in the world helps things to run more cohesively and peacefully. I agree, the Iraqi war was a mistake. But surrendering southeast Asia to the anti-human rights Chinese or surrendering our Eastern European allies and the Middle East to the authoritarian scumbag Russians would be a far greater mistake.

I don’t recall Kristol or Rubin condoning torture.

You are right, trump is an existential threat. I’m still not a George Will fan but I’ll march right with him to the ballot box to vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is. Trump must be defeated and Trumpism must be destroyed.

Thriller, are you sure nothing bad overall happens in USA for people similar like you, if hypothetically 100 million of white conservatives (who in general would vote somebody from the GOP) would be replaced by 100 million Han chinese who are also Xi Jinping fans and have a mentality "China must grow large" assuming you believe that mass immigration do not harm local lifestyle?
We experienced something similar after Molotop-Ribbentrop pact and we still "enjoy" the results.

Uhh... did you read the fine print in my mission post? I actually served from 1989-1991, and am 48 now. Also, read the Bulwark article I linked to before spouting off like that. The whole point of the article is that Democrats should NOT take those extreme positions or they won't have support from anti-Trump Republicans such as myself.

My bad I thought I read where you said you just returned from your mission. Sorry.

Have you not read where in England and European countries they have no go Muslim zones where the police won't go into? They don't assimilate. Trump is trying to save our country and people like you fight him at every turn. Basic math says we can not afford unlimited medicare, free college, etc. for all the illegals we have now, and you want to let in more. Do you not understand that everyone with an expensive terminal illness will pour into our country for free medical care? People like you will bring our great nation to it's knees.

Again my comment does not even show. You have to click the faded click to expand.
THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE TYPING YOUR RESPONSE INSIDE THE POST YOU'RE QUOTING.

Seriously, this **** isn't hard.

Holy **** man, learn how this works.

3 -- Type your response.
4 -- Hit "Post Reply" button.
5 -- Pat yourself on the back for thinking that you're owning the libs.

You need to make sure the cursor is below the quote...

Everyone else on this forum knows how this works.

Are you on drugs? Is that why you can't figure this out?

@jazzrule Pay careful attention to step #2 in my instructions to you on how to reply to a post.

I work with a lot of those Chinese people, and many are not quite the Xi Jinping fans you imagine to be.

However, you may not have been aware that the post you were responding to was a joke.
