Acosta Was Told Epstein ‘Belonged To Intelligence,’ ‘Leave It Alone,’ Report Says

Talk about being gullible....

"I was told Epstein ‘belonged to intelligence’ and to leave it alone,” he told his interviewers in the Trump transition, who evidently thought that was a sufficient answer and went ahead and hired Acosta.....

.......It’s quite hard to know what to make of this claim. As one of my colleagues just pointed out to me the dialog itself seems more out of Hollywood that something you’d hear from a former US Attorney. On it’s face this sounds like second or third hand information, which puts some question over its reliability and may explain the movie script dialog. More importantly, Acosta is hardly a reliable fact witness in this case. He has every reason to deflect responsibility for the deal he made with Epstein. Finally, it seems highly improbable that Epstein “belonged to intelligence”.

What does seem plausible though is that Epstein had many very high profile defenders and that this somehow translated into message to back off or to make the situation go away with as little publicity and pressure on Epstein as possible. We can blame Acosta for the deal he cut. But that doesn’t explain why he did. Getting told to back off or hearing directly from a bunch of Epstein’s high roller friends sounds like a logical supposition.

It certainly seems worth asking under oath what Acosta told transition officials when he was angling for and getting his current cabinet position.

This all came up again during Trump's presidential campaign. And few cared, either about the rape accusations or the fact that Trump admitted frequent partying where young girls were the entertainment. It infuriated me at the time. People don't really care about sex crimes as a general rule - a sad part of our patriarchal society.

You can tell how convinced Epstein was of not getting in serious trouble over this. Naming your plane the "Lolita Express"? Flaunting it in front of everyone.

Right?

I consider myself above average when it comes to reading the news and I vaguely remember Epstein being reported. I didn’t remember his name but I did remember the Lolita Express. That’s what jarred my memory. I had to hear the name of his private jet to remember this guy.

And I don’t even remember accusations of Epstein hooking Donald Trump up with underage girls for him to rape. Which is exactly what happened. I mean, it’s as clear as day, a victim filed a charge alleging that in Epstein’s web of slime, she was raped by Trump. Incredible!

And for Bill clinton to use the “Lolita Express” 26 times? Okay okay, I understand you’re innocent until proven guilty. But cmon.

This needs to be investigated and the pieces of garbage involved need to be taken out. These poor victims deserve justice.

Haven't read but a few posts of this thread, but absolutely none of this stuff is new. The most concerning thing I found about Trump that seemed legitimate was the case of another 15 year old who had a case against him and Epstein. It was baffling to me how a media can look for anything to throw at Trump, down to how he eats fried chicken, yet nobody cared about that story. It had more legs than any nonsense or Russian collusion that's been peddled. My assumption was that it didn't get covered because of Epstein's connection to Clinton. But yeah, this stuff is so 3 years ago. Thanks, everyone, for paying attention.

Once upon a time I asked if we could have owner level rules on threads. Only post with this, or no one for that set by the OP. I think it'd be a cool feature, but it'd be a nightmare to manage. I doubt they'd want to run with it.
