By now most of you have probably heard about Donald’s tweetstorm from this morning. It was full of gaslighting, unhinged rants, and overt racism. The three tweets below are generating the most controversy but really, his entire morning was completely unhinged.







So my questions are:

1. What’s this doing to our liberal democracy? What are the long-term effects of having a president who’s just so blatantly racist and divisive? How does a nation heal from having a president so blatantly pushing on wounded nerves?

2. How can common decency win out? His own tweet is full of lies, most of these women were born in America and the one who wasn’t moved here when she was 10. Yet, a certain percentage of the population won’t ever realize this. What can be done to promote understanding of truth?

3. To my knowledge, not a single Republican representative or senator has condemned these words. What’s it going to take?

Agreed. Those comments were some of the most telling yet. If you're "brown" you're not really American, you're essentially from somewhere else, some ****-hole, even if you were actually born in the U.S. and lived in the U.S. your entire life.

Someone tell me again that Trump doesn't express explicitly racist thoughts routinely.

It has been very successful among some of my family members who feel freer to express prejudices that I had suspected were there but were better hidden. Not only am I appalled by so many in my country, but so many in my family. I don't know how to deal with it, quite honestly.

A pig who will bleep anything in a skirt so long as they have reached the age of puberty, who has no compunction about cheating on his wife or violating women without their consent, who takes babies from their mothers, and wants to start a war with countries who don't agree with his economic views. Raging socialism, when where? Well, let's just abolish the public schools, the fire department, the police departments, the public utilities, social services of any kind, and take away healthcare from poor people. Let's just privatize everything and put the banks in charge. You're so bleepin ignorant. You're everything that is wrong with this country. You're probably one of those persons who will get a gun and shoot anyone who disagrees with you, especially if they're black or from another country, who would put a woman in prison if she got an abortion. I'm sure you're cheering about the protester who the police killed outside the detention center in Tacoma. Guess you're excited because Trump wants to sell off the land in our National Parks and wants to frack and put oil pipelines through areas where the largest reservoir in the world of pure spring water resides. When I got back from hiking today, I saw a headline about Trump tweeting something racist. My first thought was it was probably going to be a stretch to make a good headline. Then I started seeing other news covering it so I googled it.

All I have to say is how the hell is this guy president. If he would have shown those tweets before sending them out to literally anybody they would have advised, "You know, I don't think that's a good idea. You're coming off racist af. Don't tweet that." It's apparent the guy doesn't give a **** and it's sad he's the president.

Not a single republican today spoke out and condemned Trump’s words. Not one. No one from his cabinet and no one from Congress.

I understand the racist cult 45 will never leave their Dear Leader. But damn, I really hope everyone else votes Democratic in 2020. We can argue policies later. Pro life pro choice pro guns pro gun regulation? Who gives a damn right now? We need to unite and dump Trump. Decent people everywhere deserve someone better as leader of this country.

Amazing. See what I mean? I mentioned this in another thread but so many Utahns are naive. Zach Wilson is from Draper. Went to corner canyon high school, one of the nicest and (whitest) schools in the state. Could be racist? Probably not. But damn, naive. I wonder how his black and Hispanic teammates feel? “Because he he funny.” Great. That’s exactly what we should be looking for in a president.

Corner canyon’s student body is 85 percent white. It’s easier to be ignorant of Trump’s dividing of America when you aren’t exposed to the racial fault lines or aren’t studying them that Trump is exploiting.
