2020 Presidential election

That is an issue but not as big as it was. China is actually encouraging parents to have a second child now. Also in Beijing the ratio is only about 52% male.

A. Did I really need to put a disclaimer that they’re no longer enforcing the “one child” policy? Of course they’re encouraging more than one child now, the disproportionate amount of males to females was one of the main factors of them abolishing it in the first place.

B. Do you know that most industrialized countries typically have more females than males? So when you say, “only 52 percent are male”, that literally means that there are millions more males than females. You don’t think that has a significant factor on people’s perception of foreigners dating native girls?

It certainly has some effect. But not nearly as big as people claim or think. It is a large issue in rural areas but it's not really an issue in big cities like Beijing. Partially for the reason you listed. It's an international City with lots of expats. Most those countries change the ratios and people travel more to other countries.

On a separate note but kind of related. China has an interesting feel of you just can't question the government and you just leave it alone. But in the flip side there are far far far less regulations and laws here. For the most part you are allowed to do whatever and no one's cares for a lot of little things.

It's a very funny split for me as an American. Sometimes I feel more liberated here and sometimes I feel a little more control from government.

Fwiw Trump doesn't have charisma either.
Unless the definition of charisma has changed to childish, moronic, crazed, over the top, stupid......

It's sad that America seems to want a president that is entertaining more than smart, composed, dedicated, classy, etc.

I learned a lot about American politics when i watched Arnold Schwarzenegger become Governor of California (obviously a highly Democratic state) in a landslide. Fame, persona, popularity, image, likability play a huge role in presidential politics. Love him or hate him, Trump grabs attention endlessly. And unless he does something horribly wrong (as opposed to just being crass, controversial and confrontational on twitter), he's very likely to get re-elected, imo. The vast majority of Republicans are behind him.

Can't argue with you on that. It's really sad though.

I agree that he has a good chance at re election. Most Republicans would vote for the devil himself if he were a republican. Then add in the fact that many people who don't support Trump will just simply throw their vote away to a 3rd party and boom. More trump

Then the Democrats better put up a candidate that is more center of the isle or holds some Republican viewpoints, rather then throw up a someone whos going to take us down the path of Venezulean socialism.

I'm no fan of the way things have been going over the last 20 years, but there is no way in hell you're going to convince Republicans, Independents, and Libertarians who think the Constitution of the United States is a great document, that socialism is the way to go...Its not gonna happen and you'll be handing Trump another 4 years.

You are preaching to choir here

But just remember. A president can't simply change our country into a socialist country so you can let go of that fear.
