El Paso Shooting

I prefer the claim that people who live in countries with no guns don't get shot. I've lived in one before. It was pretty weird how people didn't get shot.

We can't fix problems we don't understand. Complaining about a problem with superficial reasoning has gotten us nowhere. Granted, tide continues shifting on gun ownership sentiment, but I don't find "wait it out, enough time will fix this problem" to be very appealing.

I have read that 80+% of gun violence happens in inner cities and only around 5% of total gun violence is by legal owners. I've looked for actual numbers but can't find anything concrete. Does anybody have any actual evidence to prove or disapprove this?

I know someone brought it up with that Crowder dude but I would like to know the actual statistics if available.

What does "gun violence" mean?

Looking at gun deaths and injuries matters way more to me than gun violence, whatever that is.

Screw it, let's say shootings and murders. Where do majority happen and by what sort of gun(assault rifles/pistols)?
I would guess wherever there are the most bad guys with guns.

The real answer to the question of where is simply America. Cause it's the place with the most guns.
I would guess the answer to what sort of gun would be whatever gun is the most common so probably handgun

Damn. If only the entire United States was just rural country. Then, people would just stop killing each other with guns. Ban urban inner cities.

Most likely not. We haven't had a violent shooting in years.

As far as more people? Yeah probably. Gun culture here is much different than say downtown Chicago.

Not sure if you're aware but, Chicago is also a part of the United States and a large amount of guns exist there as well.

I don't know where you live, but it's implied that you don't live in the inner city. This probably means that you know the people who are likely to be around you at 3am. Or, you don't have anybody around you at 3am. I live in a place like that too. This is important. If you could walk around any inner-city in this country where you are surrounded by strangers, some of whom, you know are packing and you just don't know who, and still feel as safe, over the long run, as you do in your hometown, you'd have an argument here. Oh yeah! you have a gun to defend yourself with right? Good luck with that bro. MAD only works as a reliable deterrent on the international scale. On the individual scale, one or both just get shot.

Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, and Daejeon are all huge urban cities with population density higher than a city like Chicago. I can tell you that people in those cities feel safe. Just as safe as you do in your place despite the crazy amount of strangers around them. You tell me what the difference is.

Why do cops need guns here? There are a lot of countries where the cops don't carry firearms. Tell me why they don't need them.

How many cop death incidents would we have on our hands if they also didn't have to carry firearms.

Just to be clear, my argument here isn't that we should immediately try to ban all guns. That's clearly unrealistic. I'm only saying that if it were possible, from a theoretic standpoint, to make all guns disappear in this country, it would be a good thing.

So I should lose my AR15 because people in inner cities are killing each other at an alarming rate with pistols?

Doesn't make sense to me.

My argument is that guns are not the ones pulling the trigger. Pretty much every single person I know owns a gun. If it was truly a gun problem why are we not shooting each other. It's a systematic problem. My point is also that a good chunk of shootings are from illegally owned firearms. How does taking away the rights of law abiding citizens help solve illegal firearm shootings? It doesn't.

As far as taking guns completely away, all you have to do is look at human kind since creation. We have been killing each other since day one over petty ********. Hell not too long ago the twin towers burned, and before that we nuked an entire city. Its absolutely naive to think humans have evolved enough to not cause something catastrophic.

Does that mean I'm paranoid? No. But my guns sitting in a locked up safe are hurting nobody. Hell I see people in this very forum call Trump Hitler. Not on my watch if that's true...

My thoughts

You brandish a gun during a crime 20 years, no parole.

You illegally own a firearm 20 years no parole.

You illegally shoot someone 50 years.

Murder- life

Mass shootings- no matter what is domestic terrorism and is death.
