The official "let's impeach Trump" thread

I simply disagree, especially with the rank and file staffers. Sure for some of the big names. Like Barr and Ross.

But the majority of people working in and for this admin are faceless. They won’t be ostracized. Americans are not that focused.

I just don’t think this happens.

It does not matter whether some clueless yokel in Utah knows your reputation or not. It is on the sociopolitical power framework of Washington DC. Career politicos are constantly trying to align with winners and stay clear of losers, for this reason. Alignment with losers destroys careers, whether you are aware of it or not. This is how every company and every industry works as well. Your reputation is of paramount importance. To think otherwise is beyond naive.

I hope you can connect with reality some day. In the mean time enjoy your time in the world where politicians don’t care about their brand or their reputation.

Hahahahahaha. You continue to take that swing and it’s still a miss.

I’m not arguing the effects of shame and loss of reputation. No matter how many times you go back to that well with claims of reality.

I’m saying I don’t think they take this huge hit you thinks coming. Shame is powerful if people feel it. I don’t think the majority of people working for this admin will be. They won’t be ostracized. Arguing if something happens is not arguing the affect of if it
did.

But ignore me. In a “wealth worshiper” with no basis in reality remember?

Hahahaha

Wealth worship? Hahaha. Thanks for the laugh.

Ok, guys it’s official. They’ll be shamed into obscurity. I’m convinced.
Guys, this is a binary discussion, emmmk? It’s either obscurity or nothing, got it?

To think that they have to stay in that lane is naive. People go in and out of politics all the time. I think the majority of them will find future employment and be just fine.

This isn't about what the general public thinks, when it comes to the "faceless" staffers behind the scenes. They may not be known to you or I, but they certainly are known to those who whose job it will be to fill their current positions, as well as other jobs in Washington.

I'm sure they'll find work, there's no shortage of loony right wing media outlets and think tanks, but if the Republican party ever comes to its senses they'll never sniff the Whitehouse again.

Guess we will see. Lots of assumptions and if’s all around.

public shaming rituals are important to culture in ways that go well beyond their impact on the person or people being shamed.

Does this need to be said around here?

We’ve lost the most interesting parts of this discussion if we over focus or solely focus on the impacts felt (or not) by the person or people being shamed.

Go argue with yourself. No one said they would stay in that lane. Stop creating straw man arguments and instead address the points being debated.

(The idea that corporate jobs and government jobs are somehow in completely separate bubbles is an interesting one)

Your original point that no one associated with trump will have any reputational damage or career impact remains lonely and waiting for you to provide some evidence and reasoning to back it up. Good luck.

I have no idea what you are trying to communicate with this incoherent rambling mess. I am glad you seem happy “hahaha”.

There are people in politics whose brand is basically the equivalent of a foot soldier in the military. They show their chops by carrying out their orders diligently, regardless of ideology (or, at least that’s how it appears). That type of rank and file worker will probably be fine going forward. Most of them, at least.

People like Mick Mulvaney, on the other hand, have plenty to worry about, reputation-wise. If you’ve been Trump’s personal pitbull, then that’s gonna stick to you.

Maybe. But I find it hard to believe working for a disaster out presidency will not harm your CV. At any level.

Hence, why Trump is an existential threat that sadly republicans are ignoring and Democrats are cowering to. A message needs to be sent through Impeachment. It would be fantastic if Mitch voted to indict. But he’s too corrupt to do that. I think the “Impeachment” stain would go a long ways towards restoring normalcy.

If trump isn’t impeached, why even keep it in the constitution?

If they’re lying about the weather to preserve Great Leader’s egos, just imagine what the FDA, EPA, and NSA are lying about. Scary stuff.
