Go Warren!

see my post to gameface
Sure, I understand that, but you should also be aware that none of the differences in their plans really matter all that much for one simple reason: they don't get to vote on it.

What an eventual M4All plan looks like if instituted depends far more on the makeup of the Senate than the details of the plans put forward during a campaign.

I totally understand from a leftist perspective why she's not adored like Bernie, but in a Bernie-less world she'd be far and away the most left wing candidate we've seen in decades.

Being the Administer of the U.S. clearly matters.

We never thought it did until a complete incompetent became President, now we know it does matter.

Meeting with foreign leaders, it matters. I'd prefer they meet with Warren over (arms in the air) Bernie.

I trust Warren's ability to make smart decisions over Bernie's raw idealism. We need the President to be a realist. Bernie is not a realist, he's an idealist. Maybe some people like that. I know Trump supporters liked it when they rejected the rest of the Republican field for a guy that spoke to their heart and soul.

well so far I seem to know more about warren’s healthcare plan than Zombie, and more about her voter demographics than Thriller. I was the first person to post about AOC when she won her primary. I’d wager that I follow left US politics closer than 98% of this board
Yes, you are certainly tapped into the extreme left of all of North America. My previous post stands.

In a Bernie-less world, she wouldn’t be advocating for this healthcare plan. If she supported it regardless of Bernie, she would have endorsed him in 2016 just like Tulsi did.

She’s a thermometer, and reacting to the Overton window shift. Sanders is a thermostat, he’s the one shifting the window. That’s why I support him. He’s changed America permanently

imagine the furoree if bernie cosponsored a Warren plan, stole the name and then watered it down.

I can't. I just can't imagine such a thing. The furoree would just be too furoreeus.

A bugs bunny reference.

anyways, the media & Nate silver types are all in the tank for Warren. I hope Sander prevails, but none of the professional class wants anything to do with him. It’ll come down to the inroads he makes with unions and working people. The most common employer of his voters is Walmart; nurses and teachers are not far behind.

I'm not sure I agree with this, her history of supporting single payer goes back to 2008 at least, although I do agree that Bernie is primarily responsible for moving the conversation leftward when it comes to Healthcare.

she doesn’t even explicitly support single-payer now. Go look on her website. Google “warren public option” and you’ll see more people critiquing this

Seems pretty explicit to me. View attachment 8215

the term single payer isn’t there. You realize that, yeah? If you’re missing out on the nuance, public option means everyone gets covered (technically); but the bureaucracy of administering multiple health care insurances is kept, meaning health care costs to the country continue to balloon. It’s a bad idea.

my final post on this topic for now— heres Krystal Ball with some great Warren analysis recently:

I feel like you're arguing semantics here. Medicare for all is a single payer proposal.

Imagine for a moment what I think is the most likely scenario for either Warren's or Bernie's healthcare plan moving through congress (assuming they have a non McConnell controlled Senate of course).

They don't have the votes to pass a Medicare for All bill that completely does away with private insurance. Which one of these candidates seems most willing to compromise on this to get a public option passed?

To me it's pretty clearly Warren. It would be kind of funny to see die hard Bernie supporter's heads explode if he did end up signing a "watered down" M4All though.

You cant expect people to actually know the difference between Warren and Sanders because mainstream media has been doing their darnedest to paint Warren as a more "electable" Sanders.
