What's new

The “I’m a Mike Conley hating bitch” list

I am also holding out hope that PART of the contributing issue, as Locke pointed out before the SAC game, is the Jazz haven't had a chance to practice since the season started. Because history suggests his shooting, his floor game and turnovers are not as bad as he has shown so far this season.

He's in the last year of his contract so the worst that could happen is he sux really bad this year. I, for one, think they'll figure out how to get something out of him. Wouldn't be surprised if they let him walk or restructure in the offseason. Actually would be surprised if they didn't.

I can see your shot taking time to adjust with a new system, players etc. But the TOs are just mind boggling to me. The passes are weak... You don't forget fundamentals like passing. A new system doesn't cause you to forget how to dribble a basketball that you have been doing since you were 5 years old. Passing and court vision, you either have it or you don't. Some of his passes are ending up in the 3rd row of seats.

So what does cause those things?

Well, Rubio had a great game against the Sixers tonight and won. 21 pts, 10 ast and +/- of 12. I hope Conley gets it together cuz Milwaukee just crushed Minnesota on a away game. Btw is Embiid returning against the Jazz or is he still suspended?

Great so he had his one great game in every 10.

Well, how are they guarding him? One way to tell is to look at Mitchell’s efficiency numbers:

52/44/78

So far, they aren’t helping on DM enough to make a dent. Which means that they are still guarding Conley like he is the Conley of old, and it is working for Mitchell.

I’m thinking Mike regains his form in short order.

Embiid will be back. I'm very curious to see how we rebound against Embiid/Simmons/Horford/Harris...

It may be that shooting percentage is not the only measure. Its not a coincidence that phoenix is 5-2, just beat the NBA's top ranked team and Aaron Baynes is having a career year.

Booker scored 40 against Philly, but i didn't watch to see if they were doubling him off of Ricky.

Surprised the suns are as good as they are rn.

Hope we dont get smashed by the 76ers at home, cos damn idk if we matchup very well.

Baynes had a great year last year. It’s only that he’s getting a lot more minutes with Ayton missing.

PHX’s good start has a whole lot to do with their coach having them playing organised and disciplined than any other factor. Ricky is a much better fit there though, but teams will start doubling off him soon enough. His 3 month hot patch is about to cool off

I'm done with this team.

Mike Conley can **** us for the rest of his contract. I don't even care.

I had patience, but with Gobert's comments I now realize this is a dysfunctional team that is going to underperform. They don't like each other, they don't get along, they don't play well together.

No homecourt for the first round even if they make the playoffs. Done.

The Jazz will blow it up next year and it'll take a long time to get back to anything.

Good thing the NBA has the L.A. vs L.A. thing, making sure Utah doesn't matter.

You're done with Rudy in the other thread and now your done with the team? It's 3:00 a.m. when you posting. You on a bender?

Don't be so dramatic.

I get where you're coming from, but I disagree on many of your points. However, I don't want to continue to debate, so I will summarize my feelings.

I like Ricky he does many things that help his team win. The Jazz won with Ricky, Spain won with Ricky, Phoenix is winning with Ricky.

Keeping Ricky would've cost 1/2 as much salary and didn't require gutting your bench and throwing away more draft assets.

Furthermore, giving away the misfits that wanted to be here cost the Jazz organization its identity. The organization gave away it's narrative and didn't replace it with anything credible.

And all that bought them was the same position they were in before, hanging out 6-10 in the west. If they are lucky they are headed for a first round exit (maybe 2nd round), if unlucky they are headed to the lottery with a high likelihood Memphis takes the Jazz lottery pick.

Maybe Conley turns it around, maybe Quin is a bigger genius than we thought and I will happily admit I was wrong. Until then, I will occasionally come to Jazzfanz to vent my frustration because my wife has got tired of hearing it.

What's your basis on us being worse than last year?

I disagree completely. The hardest thing to do on a basketball court is pass. Takes reading defense and other players in real time. Shooting is a much easier adjustment. Example... watch when Bojan tries to playmake instead of score... it usually ends badly. He's not great at it, but that is what takes the most time.

I think the dribbling and shooting is really a matter of just not being sure of himself yet and not being decisive/confident. Outside of injuries I'm not sure there is a reason he can't be somewhat close to what he was middle of the season last year. 20-25 games in is where I start to panic if things aren't improving.

So Jazzfanz… we gonna hold him to this when the Jazz start winning and look like a contender. We've lost three games... all on the road... 2 to teams that most consider better than us. The other was on a heartbreaker. Is it really meltdown time?
