Pretty self explanatory... I'm okay with how TB has played, but I'm not sure there is a ton of upside and I don't think he's the guy you want on the floor in the playoffs.
The teams in the western conference that we have to go through don't really have traditional backup centers and honestly there isn't one of them that I'd feel good about Tony Bradley guarding.
Lakers - They will likely have AD in their non-Dwight playoff minutes... not much you can do there other than keep Rudy out there on him.
Clippers - Harrell... not big, fast, energetic, pick and roll dude. Tony on him? no thanks.
Rockets - Like go with Tucker as their 5... again Tony? no thanks.
Denver - Plumlee is solid and a more traditional big.. pick and roll finisher.
Dallas - Kleber/Powell... both mobile dudes... Pick and roll and pick and pop guys.
IDK that Tony can hurt any of these guys on the offensive glass... currently I think we'd get smacked by those dudes if Tony is on the floor defensively...
So - We should try Juwan Morgan as a backup center. I think he'd be better guarding at the rim (averaged 2 blocks and 2 steals in g league)… I think he'd be much better guarding on the perimeter. On offense I think he could catch and finish as well as TB in the pick and roll, but he can also shoot a little. I think we lose a little on the offensive glass but that might be it really.
If Morgan develops his shot or shows the ability to take one or two dribbles and make a decision then it adds some serious wrinkles to the offense... I think the defense would overall be better.
His garbage time minutes have not been great... he's very passive on offense, but he's been the spacer in the corner... not the screener. Would love to see him as a screener and see him as the roll man.
It may not be the answer, but I don't think there is a lot to lose by giving it a try. Theoretically I see some nice upside.
