Not it wasn't. I gave some solutions I don't have all the answers and neither do you. I know the current solution is not working though. That's been my point since the beginning.
 
Okay, besides doing "more" I have an actual answer.

1 -- we need shelters to help prevent people from dying.

2 -- In these shelters we need to connect homeless people with mental health resources. In some cases these folks might be a prescription away from becoming functional.

3 -- We need to connect with homeless people in the shelters and in the streets to try to provide drug addiction counseling. But I doubt many will kick drug addiction while on the street, so it would be useful to be able to provide dedicated in-patient drug treatment facilities specifically for homeless people.

4 -- We need employment opportunities focused on hiring homeless people and providing them temporary housing, mental health care and basic resources while employed. Ideally these would be jobs that are almost completely filled by homeless people and are intended as a sort of transition point where eventually they find their own housing (with help) and other employment.

That's for starters

Saying the current solution was not working and that you would do "more" is the entirety of what you said.

Further, I believe for Trump, and for many of his followers, cruelty has always been the point. Trump hates the people his core supporters hate. This has long been obvious to me, and the fact so many miss this fundamental truth, and actually think it's great to have a bully(and most bullies at heart are cowardly) as a president says something rather ugly about the United States.

What did Obama do?

Did he stick up for Iranian protestors?
Did he pass criminal justice reform?
Did he stick up for Hong Kong?
Is he adamant about the 2nd amendment?
Did he get minorities working?
Did he rid the world of a failed unconstitutional health care plan that literally forced people to pay? The same plan Obqma had his secretary sing up for the last second while he was on vacation?
Did he get people working in natural resources again?
Bring back blue collar jobs(Obama said they didnt exist"
Did he make a trade deal that's supposed to help middle America farmers?
Did he protect American citizens before illegals?
Did he sign am EO combating human trafficking?
Revord women employment?


I could go on Red. All the above proves that he does care. It he a raging narcissistic idiot? Yeah, but to say he has done nothing is a flat out lie. Flat out.

And i maintain that sitting while whole tputomg serious accomplishments is cowardly. You all act like I think Republicans are saints. They're terrible too.

Not so hard, let's get it done! But... Why is it not happening? Is it because our elected officials, Trump included, are too busy wasting millions upon million on gold pens, silver platters and investigations that go no where? I say yes, well partially.

Impeachment is over, now should be the time these people start focusing on us and important matters. But they won't, and we'll continue to support them.

1) Some of them. Every person is in a unique situation, and very few choose homelessness. The lack of affordable housing is a choice by city planners and developers. New York City has abandoned buildings, subway stations, and other under-used infrastructure. Being on a coast, it's much warmer than cities like Chicago.

When has he added anything to a discussion? I remember a few months ago @fishonjazz basically said the same thing to him. I think we were arguing about Russia or Trump’s asking Ukraine for election help.

People often think that unaffordable housing only exists in big “liberal” cities. It’s actually happening in red states too. Utah is one of them. Just curious, have any of you bought a home in the past 5 years here along the Wasatch Front?

I feel so bad for people looking to buy their first home right now.

I bought my first home about 10 years ago for about 190,000. I could sell my home for about 330,000 right now. I live in K-Town. That's an insane price to live here.

The War on Drugs helped create this situation. We, as a country, chose to treat addiction with imprisonment instead of treatment. It didn't work, and we know that now. But we are way behind the 8-ball in being able to provide resources for treatment. I work in this area, and the courts are now requiring treatment but there are not nearly enough treatment centers, etc. to handle the problem. So we are still imprisoning people because we don't have anywhere else for them to go. And the problem still exists when they return to society. Second chances are all well and good, but most people do not want to hire felons. They have a difficult time finding housing and jobs, and return to crime because they have no other options.

People only break that cycle when they get a hand up. Providing that hand is a much better and cheaper option than continuing our failed policies of the past.

One of the saddest things I experienced several times while working with the homeless is how often they would "get clean" in jail...and then OD on their release. Their bodies were just not used the same amount of drugs they were taking before jail, or they took more than did before hoping for a big post-incarceration-high.
