What's new

Lest we forget.....

On another note, next season Conley and Clarkson for Tobias should be explored. Sixers will want out of that deal.

I saw that interview actually. When the Jazz signed Conley, Bogey thought the Jazz were getting serious. He wanted to play with Conley, Mitchell and Gobert.
WE. WERE. HIS. BEST. OFFER.

Conley is not the problem. He obviously has not forgotten how to play ball. Now, if you trade for him, you don't do it to take the basketballl out off his hands, because he's a point guard that's made a career with the ball in his hands. You just do not try to make him a side guard. It's a kind of dumb thing to do. You put him there, let him handle and run things and let him figure it out how to run an offense with Gobert around... which is not an easy task.
Like how you start off with saying conley's not the problem then spend the next whole paragraph explaining why he is the problem and what his problem is

The problem right now is that the Jazz's roster isn't balanced. We have three small guards who all need the ball in their hands to be effective. We then have three dad-bod forwards whose games are a bit limited. Then we have Gobert and Bradley who are limited away from the basket.

In order to compete at the level we want to compete at, we need a versatile, athletic, two-way wing to balance the roster. Maybe Brantley isn't quite ready to play that role, but it would be worth putting him out there instead of Niang. We know what Niang is already.

Then the Jazz whiffed on Ed Davis and Jeff Green in free agency. I don't mind Mudiay, who was basically replacing Neto as a 3rd-string PG.

If getting Conley was what got us Bogey why were we talking with Niko? Then we pivoted to Bojan. Offered him the most money. Many people thought it was an overpay... "experts" were like uhhhhh I don't know about that contract.

This narrative is tired. If we don't have Mike do we really think he says no thanks and takes less money from Indiana. There was a domino effect in free agency that lead to us getting Bojan and it had almost nothing to do with Mike.

Tobias isn't worth his contract. What the Jazz need is a Draymond Green / Paul Millsap forward. We need defense, rebounding, toughness and ball movement.

Not according to Bojan.

Niko was our first option who said screw the NBA, I'm moving to Barcleona.

Bogey was our second option who said yes because he liked what the Jazz were putting together. Then we made an offer. Then he accepted. Then Indiana pivoted to TJ Warren and Jeremy Lamb.

I'm not mad about what the FO did, how they did it, why they did it.

Going into the season I was VERY VERY happy with the team we had.

I've been disappointed in Conley underperforming, but that's really it. I'm not even upset he's on the team and I don't think trading him was the fix-all. I still think he'll improve.

A losing streak is frustrating. But holy ****, I want to go compare **** you people were saying during that good run compared to what you're saying now. Obviously opinions can change but many of you got a little too high during the the good stretch and are way too ****ing low right now. This is not as bad as it seems. There are plenty of games left. We may not have realistic hope of being the 2 seed at this point, but I think top-half of the bracket is still a very good possibility.

He could have gotten that offer elsewhere. Not just Indiana.
Nope... here is what happened...

Indiana was going to sign Ricky Rubio and his price got high because of the Suns... We made an offer or were talking with Niko, he went to Europe... We then turned to Bojan and said we will give you the whole bag of what we have left... Indiana pivoted to Brogdon (they had also traded for TJ Warren which signaled there was likely a limit they would go for Bojan).

All of that happened after the Mike Conley trade. If Bojan wanted to be here to play with Mike then why weren't we each other's first choice? Why didn't we both talk with each other first at least... why did the other dominos have to fall first.

Pretty amazing that Indiana pivoted to TJ Warren 10 or so days before free agency opened. Your timeline is wrong.

Mike may have been a factor... the money was the deciding factor... it wasn't some sort of package deal.

Also, I'd love to hear the press conference where a free agent is asked why he comes to a team and he says "they gave me the most money". It would be true like 95% of the time but no one says it. Its always about culture, the program, or the guys they have.

Because Niko was our first option ahead of Bogdanovic and because Brogdon was Indiana's first priority.

Bojan is a good signing. But it's not like he's the only option either. "We don't get bojan if we don't get Conley". OK? Even if that's true. So what? We could've still signed Oubre, kept favors, or do some other deals to improve out squad with that 17mil a year in space. I like bojan but he couldnt guard anyone, rebound or playmake. He's a big time scorer now but who knows what he's gonna be like in 2 to 3 years when he's gonna be 33 or 34 yr old. It's unlikely he outplay his contract the same way booz and Okur did. Not to mention they were only 28 and 31 at the time when their contract expired and were much more well rounded as players than Bojan. That is why both became all star, and we hardly see any all-star conversation for Bojan despite his scoring numbers.

So not surprised at all to see the team prioritizing Niko over bojan because not only was he more gettable, he was also younger and much more well rounded than bojan as a player. Lot of metrics don't like Bojan because his lack of defense and rebounding could really hurt a team, meaning we had to put him in some very specific lineups in order to maximize him

I don't see us as being a top 4 team but in the playoffs but I still have no problem with the moves we made. NOTHING is a sure thing. The FO was very agressive and made a number of moves. Sometimes it doesn't pan out as planned. Disappointing but they did what we always clamor for them to do which is make moves.

Bogey could have gotten that money from another team if not the Jazz. Again, look what Middleton and Tobias signed for. Every team saw Bogey as a 2nd-tier free agent.

On paper, Mitchell, Gobert and Conley look like 3 All Stars in a Western Conference where Golden State's dynasty is ending and Houston is in decline. Before the Kawhi fiasco, people were projecting the Jazz as a top 1 or 2 seed in the west.

No. We were Bojan's best offer because no other team was willing to sign a 30 yr old to a 4 yr deal
