Well, that would kill Bloomberg's chances, assuming he had any. Imagine a brokered convention where Bloomberg gets the nomination and then brings back Hillary. Talk about tone deaf. Bernie supporters might literally riot.

Plus, nothing says Bloomberg is a deep state tool like bringing back Hillary.

Idk but I think Wes is somewhat correct that the economy could take a hit from Sanders being elected. And Wes isn't even close to the first person to float that idea. I have heard it a lot.

First off I don't really believe that the rich are actually holding the economy hostage, not on purpose anyway. I think Wall Street bankers and their mouthpieces in the media are stoking fears about a Sanders presidency that aren't based in reality.

He's got a chance because he's successfully bought his way into making himself indispensable to the DNC, and has a ton of money for ads. He's incredibly weak among the progressive faction of the party and among people of color. He's also got a lot of the same character flaws as Trump, but with a more professional veneer.

As a Bernie supporter I'm perfectly happy with him siphoning support from Buttigieg, Klob and Biden though. It's going to make Sanders path to victory a little easier.
 
Bloomberg comes off as one of the most dull, non-charismatic and arrogant people you could possibly find. His ads are solid, but once he needs to give a speech or respond to questions he'll come off dry as a twig. He's one of the least likable candidates, and that's saying something.

There's a reason he's avoiding the debates and minimizing public appearances.

The reason he hasn’t been in a debate is because thus far he hasn’t been eligible. The next debate is in Las Vegas February 19. Bloomberg needs one more qualifying poll (10 percent support nationally) to be eligible. If he actually qualifies for a debate and refuses to attend, then you can honestly say he’s avoiding a debate.

The Fed has continued to print the U.S. dollar towards oblivion in order to pump liquidity into the economy. At the same time, the economic impact of this epidemic in China and Hong Kong is likely to chill optimism in the global economy and could impact a number of industries and supply lines. It's hard to see how the macro economy grows from here unless job creation somehow continues.
 
Oh, and the other guy who is going to be pissed if Bloomberg slides in and gets the nomination is going to be Pete Buttigieg. Granted, he doesn't have the same fervent base of supporters that Sanders has built, but both leading candidates' supporters (Sanders and Buttigieg) are going to feel displaced when Bloomberg shows up in the 11th hour. Bloomberg needs to show he's the best candidate to galvanize the party and not just the guy who's the richest and most ambitious.

I thought Bloomberg qualified when the DNC dropped the donor requirement, but maybe he needs more support in polls.

bernie is a good person and a far better candidate than trump.

However, Im curious as to how anyone thinks a single bernie plan will be passed by a Mitch McConnell controlled senate? Even if Dems retake the senate, they won’t have close to the 2/3rds necessary to pass anything. If/When Trump loses, Republicans will return to being the fiscal hawks/obstructionists/Monday morning quarterbacks that they were for most of Obama’s presidency.

and the American public is so utterly brain dead that they’ll blame Democrats for the deadlocked government and they'll smother Democrats in the 2022 midterms. By Jan 2023, Democrats will probably have lost the Senate and House majorities and Bernie will be a lame duck president.

I think its possible that Bernie has plans that you and I have never even heard of. He could also think of new plans after being elected that could get passed.
Cross that bridge when we get there. Step one: Get a good man/woman in the position to run things.

He can still do a lot of good in moving the issue forward and using the bully pulpit to continue to make his case to the American people.

Yep, there will be a dip during the next Presidential term. Pretty much guaranteed.

Bernie already has moved the conversation forward. I just don’t think he expands the electorate nor do I think he’s electable. Especially in swing states. I agree with the traditional strategists who believe that Sanders makes it much harder for Democrats to retain control of the House and win the senate and White House.

Bernie absolutely expands the electorate, he's got a huge base of support from left leaning independants. Polling suggests he's perfectly electable in swing states, but I guess we'll see.
 
Sanders is just too ideological. I want the ideologues in think tanks and serving advisory roles. I don't want our President to be a ****ing "Democratic Socialist" I just don't.

I think he would have one of the most ineffective terms of any President and would lose the office to a Republican in 2024. He'd just be too inflexible. He'd get nothing passed because he wouldn't compromise.

If you want the best of what Sanders can do, support Warren. She can compromise and work to get the best possible outcome rather than fighting and dying for the perfect possible outcome.
