What's new

How has the virus affected you directly?

Dang imma stop complaining (probably not but it’s something people say). I’m lucky I can work from anywhere... just stuck here with four bored kids out of school... if we could get some damn sun we could play in the yard but it’s been rainy and cold. I bought some expensive workout equipment to workout at home because the thought of 2-3 months with no gym made me nutty.

Wish you guys the best that are going through tough struggles.

I work from house now. It kind of sucks because my house just isnt set-up for being productive. I'm going to need to buy a better chair, desk, and lamp.

The main thing is just that I'm worried about my parents.

That and not going to gym freaking blows. I can do pull-ups on the tree outside and we have a heavy *** boulder I can do lower body work with, but it's just harder to motivate myself without heavy weights. Bought some exercise resistance bands to do stuff with. Just freaking blows because I've made a lot of progress in the last 5 months.

My office today informed me they wanted me to work from home, but their requirements to do so are so rigid that I cannot meet them (a locked room in the house that only I will access which has a modem, ethernet connection and all). I live with my mother in a small house and there is no such room. So I will still be coming into the office. Fine by me.

Mostly my life has been impacted by trying to get my 82 year old mother to quit running so many errands. She hates being cooped up and hasn't been too cooperative. Since I already have a lot of health problems, my activities have been curtailed anyway so I'm not giving up much.

Good luck to all of you who have it much harder than I do in making this work.

I work for a contractor on Hill Air Force Base. I can't believe that it hasn't been closed to all non-essential personnel yet. Thousands work there. One case of COVID-19 will spread like wildfire. Talking with some people up there today they all seem to think "it will get shutdown if things get bad' which seems like the idiotic approach to me. It should get shutdown BEFORE things can get bad.

As a company we've already experienced several people quit in the last week alone due to the concern.

I care for my 70 year old father. I'm concerned about bringing the virus home with me. But without my job we're on the streets. Idk what to do.

My aggravation level is rising. All these damn politicians are preaching social distancing. But they won't shutdown places like this and pay workers while its down. Hypocrites. All of them.

You can do tons of good **** with some barbells and a pull-up bar for the doorway. Get into some trisets that focus on time under strain, not max weight. You can get blasted, I promise.

Also, get some Olympic Rings for that tree you mentioned. There’s years of difficult **** to try with that $35 item

I have similar feelings about my church that is still open...

On a bit more of a personal note, I have a pet that just started cancer treatment. I’ve had to wonder about whether she’ll be able to continue to receive treatments, and about the risks my wife and I are taking if/when we are able to take her in for treatments. This has added a very uncomfortable layer to all the other considerations.

My dog had two toes amputated because of cancer growing between them two months ago. I needed to go with him like four times for a check up after that. He is fine now and I am just so glad that it had been done before that **** started.. Good luck for you with all of that!

Belgium is entering the lockdown which is a bit lighter than in France or Spain. You are supposed to sit at home but you can go out to the shop, pharmacy, even go jogging but max per two person together. I am home since thursday, only went out to the shop once otherwise only walk the dog far from the people. I have made some supplies two weeks ago, wish would have made more. The governement is reassuring everybody that there is no need for excessive buying. But if your best chance at getting that virus is during the shopping than obviously everyone will try to make it less often hence buying more. Waiting in queues outside the store also not going to be fun. I am free from my work till the end of April. This month they will pay me normally, next it will be probably around 70% temporary unemployement. Lost couple of extra gigs but can't complain.

Heavy weights? You’re built like Ichabod Crane.

We’ve got 5 kids. The oldest two are in school and the third is in pre-school. My wife doesn’t work. My main job I’ve been going in until tomorrow. We’re no longer seeing people unless it’s urgent, so managing things all over the phone from tomorrow on. It’s nice I can do that from home but in the end it’s questionable how that will be reimbursed. I have a job that I do entirely remotely anyway once weekly, so that’s unchanged and, if anything, became easier without having to go in during the week. Another job is in person but can be fairly remote. I just have to cover in the hospital this weekend in person and it will be interesting to see how that works out. We’ve got plenty of stuff for the kids to do here. Unfortunately, they just want to be on electronics. The past couple days with everything shut down and being physically at work, kept thinking how I’d rather just be working at home. It’s about a 30 minute commute for me, so saving an hour a day is huge. Again, may not be getting paid for what I do, though. At least as of now.

I’ll finally get to see Rise of Skywalker tonight.

That's rough. That's a hard enough situation to deal with without the virus stuff on top.

This has effected my life over the last two months in more ways than I can list. It's completely changed my current plans and changed the direction of my future plans drastically. The bright note is that I've basically been in some sort of quarantine with my girlfriend for 2 months and it's been great. I moved to live with her sooner than anticipated because of this.

Full disclosure, and this is not something I've mentioned here yet: My son (31 yrs old) died 2 weeks ago. We had to go to a viewing and the cremation. In Seattle. Last Monday. We just got back on Wednesday. My 84 years old father came with us. I am absolutely terrified that he caught it up there.

Also, the memorial is being delayed, because... well, of course it is.
